Couple rebellion questions

Hi, just a couple questions about rebellion that I think could be easily answered for me.

First, does rebellion come in a DVD form? All I see is download, but Im on a pretty slow connection, and DVD would be ideal.

Second, are the first two small expansions included in rebellion? I have the original game, but without entrenchment or diplomacy. I was looking for those when I found rebellion. Im hoping rebellion includes everything.

Thanks

No. I've heard it might exist in Australia, but for most places it's digital download only.

All the content from those expansions is in Rebellion.

Thanks for the info.

Yep, I saw a PC DVD import on amazon from the UK that was rebellion. I think I might just do the download and suffer the 20 hour wait.

Looking forward to it after reading through the change logs and the new content. I had no idea so much was changed and added since 1.05, which is what Im playing now :)

Dare I ask if late, large game performance has been improved?

Even for the original, 1.05 is absolutely ancient. There's probably been a good 10 updates after that even without the expansions.

Over 1.05, I have absolutely no idea. It's still possible to break the camels back of course, but basically it comes down to if the optimizations they made out way all the new stuff.

Yeah, I only realized how old it was a couple days ago seeing how many change logs there were ^_^ . It might be what came out of the box. If the update button on the main screen always sent you to go download a 3rd party application, then Ive never updated it before. But if it used to just download the patch, then I guess I did update at some point. But as far as I can recall its always sent me to a website to download something that wasnt the actual patch.

Its good to see a good game continually worked on instead of development for it dropped quickly after release in favor of some new quick cash title, which seems to be getting common now.

Yes. Stardock at the time was developing its own game store/updater application Impulse as a competitor to steam at the time. Their philosophy then as well as now is to not use a lot of upfront DRM but ensure only registered paying customers could get the long term continued patch support.

Of course now days Stardock sold off Impulse so they could focus on making games, and seem to have decided to join steam rather than compete with them, so with Rebellion that will keep your game up to date.
