It is time...

from WinCustomize Forums

As much as many of us like the existing WinCustomize design, technology marches on and there's a lot more we can do with WinCustomize today than we could when we did the last design.

I'm starting this thread to begin the brain storming phase of what you guys would like to see in the next-generation version of WinCustomize.com.

This can include:

1. HOW items (like skins) are organized.

2. WHAT kinds of items we include (should we add support for mobile devices for instance)

3. WHAT kinds of design elements and features would you like to see.

Plus anything else you'd like to add.

Let it begin. :)

hopefully that will encourage some long term Masters to return to skinning at least with the occasional masterskin..... the old guard's skins have been thin on the ground for awhile now.... here's hoping this encouragement is successful.....

( Wallpapers ) ..

I think having to upload a Zip full of different sizes is Old School , and a big waste of time and everybody does it different ..

Most other sites now you just upload the lager size and the site generates all the other sizes that site deals with .

and with smartphones and tablets being the next best thing it could generate sizes for those items also ..

This way you can just download the size you want and not a zip full which you have to delete the ones you don't need ..

This would allow the people to get the size they need , as most of the wall zips here don't include the right sizes for some people

forcing them to have to re-size the wall themselves ( for those who know how to do it ) ..

 

Just my thoughts about wall uploads and downloads :rolleyes:

Dreams ( DeskScapes )  ..

Would it be possible to rework the .swf video preview in Dreams to be more friendly for the uploader

and allow for a larger video preview ?

You should also state for the uploader the file size Max. for .swf

Some Dreams are hard to see the detail and movements of the Dream with the present swf video size,

so if we could generate a Larger Preview size that would be Great ..

 I like exploring the older pages for cursors, icon, blinds, etc.,  i'm curious to see if you can make it easier to explore these pages especially  older items by putting page numbers instead of just arrows. Change this   << < Page 45 of 456 > >>  to this   456 pages * Next 1 2 3 4 ... 250 ... 455 456 Prev.   This forum works this way why not the whole site. if i leave off at page 75 i can always come back to page 76 where i left off. the way it is now i have to go through 75 pages to get to page 76. seems like the artists and their creations (the ones in the middle) are getting a raw deal. this should have been done a long time ago.                21st century thinking!!!

1. It's already been mentioned, but Personal Pages (for subscribers) simple MUST be brought back.
2. Some sort of site-customization (like site-skins) would be nice - like in the old days.
3. New Subscriber skins! Not necessarily made by Stardock, though.
4. Clean/split up the Wallpaper section. "The finest collection of desktop backgrounds on the Internet!" my ass. Most of it is pure crap.
I know I won't make many friends with that statement, but I couldn't really care less.

There currently are no real reasons for (new) people to shell out cash on a subscribtion.
Ad free browseing and unlimited downloads just isn't enough.
My subscribtion ran out last september, but I see no point in renewing it. 

Update the friggin about page!! I left the Mod-squad 3/4 of a year ago but I'm still listed as a Mod.

Wow. I came back a few months ago. Now I'm glad I did.

I agree with AzDude, the wallpapers do need a size maker for downloads.

As for the site, I know she worked hard on the look of the site (being one of my fav skinners) but it is out of date. If I had to guess, I'd imagine the new site, would be a more flat, block look like Stardock.com. Keep it simple.
