Loss of functionality in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat

After installing Fences unexplained issues occurred in Word and Acrobat

OK, I am not trying to blame Fences for this very strange loss of functionality in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat XI.

But I also cannot explain what is happening.

I run Windows 8 X64 with all the latest updates.

I have used Office 365 and Adobe Acrobat XI since Jan 2013 without incident on this computer.

About a week ago I installed the trial version of Fences and a few days later purchased the latest version of Fences.

Almost immediately I noticed two very strange errors.

(1)   In Office 365 Word

In short, I lost the ability to select text using my mouse.

(2)   In Adobe Acrobat XI

In short, I lost the ability to select more than one page in a multi-page pdf file.

I have an active feed on Microsoft Community help page with the Microsoft Word MVPs.  They have made several suggestions. Nothing has worked so far.

I have spent much time with Adobe paid support trying to fix the issue.  They were not able to suggest a solution.  In fact this loss of functionality is a new issue to them.  My case was escalated to higher support level and I await their phone call.

I have tried the usual things, uninstall the applications, Word, Acrobat, and Fences.  Use a different mouse.  But nothing has helped.

Both the Adobe reps and the Microsoft MVPs have given me detailed assistance, to no avail so far.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?
