Start Screen gone/missing after trial of Start8 ended
The only thing I can access now is the desktop view. My start screen won't open at all. Anyone have any idea what is going on?

So your computer starts, skips the metro (modern) start screen, and goes to the desktop.
What happens if you tap on the Windows key on your desktop?
Are you using Win8 or the Win8.1 preview?
Did you uninstall Start8 after the trial ended?

I have the same issue!
I was running the Start8 trial and everything was good. When the trial ended, the computer still booted straight into desktop mode. If I press the windows key then nothing happens, I am still in desktop mode. (Actually the window I am working in becomes deactivated, but nothing else visible happens.)
If I activate the charm bar on the right hand side of the screen and push the windows icon there, again nothing happens and I am still in desktop mode.
I then uninstalled Start8 from the control panel, rebooted, and it's still the same as above. I can't get into the modern interface at all.
Please advise on how to restore the original Windows8 behaviour
I am using Win8 (not the preview).

Ditto. Same problem with 1.2 and windows 8. two other similar posts already in the Start8 forum. Think they have a problem.
If your machine is booting to the desktop on Windows 8.1 without Start8 installed (make sure the Start8 files have been removed from the hard drive), it isn't us causing it as the boot to desktop feature is something that requires actual code from Start8 running when on 8.0 (vs 8.1 where the OS option is used)
