Questions on what I need to make it easier with Windows 8 using Stardock

Everybody please forgive me for sounding this dumb but I need your help. I have been using Windows 7 for the past 4 years and I love it. I just bought a computer with windows 8 and it will be arriving this week. I am not trying to bash myself but truly I am not computer smart. All I know is how to do things the way windows 7 was.

I do not want thw windows 8 begginning metro screen(dumb tiles gibberishj). I just want to have the start menu and when I turn on the computer it goes to my old windows 7 style desktop with the icons/symbols I have chosen(mozilla firefox, webroot security, system mechanic 11, bittorrent, VLC, etc.).

The cost of the Stardock products is not a problem because they are good. Just could somebody tell me if I can buy one of the products here that will start my new computer with the "old school" desktop and a start menu?

And last but not least, I have noticed some people ask about over validation issues with a product here. Is that a common thing or rather few?

Thank you and again I'm sorry for sounding like a potato head!

Start8 will do what you want.

As a percentage of users the validation problems are VERY small.  Support handles them quickly though.

Hi Bill,

I can sympathize entirely with you - and had the same issue when my new company laptop came with Windows 8. The Metro interface simply doesn't work with enterprise software. I have tried a number of shell replacements, and Start 8 is by far the simplest to use / install and offers all the customization and functionality you need to work "old school" style ...

Cheers

Nigel.

Can't seem to get anyone to answer my other post.  Can it create custom folders in the start menu where we can group our software by category?  Cascading or expandable sub menu's?

Thanks
