3 Troops Have Deserted??

Unable to determine which troops or why it's happening

Playing vanilla 1.3

 

I'm at war with Yithril, and an occasionally receiving notifications that "3 troops have deserted".   My economy is positive (a few hundred $) and I am otherwise unable determine which troops have deserted, where they were located or what is causing the desertion.

 

Would anyone be able to shed some light on this?  Thanks!

 

FYI, I have to say that I am very impressed with the game.  I played the previous incarnation for about an hour before deleting it and held off on Fallen Enchantress for a while.  After much investigation, I decided to give it a chance and so far it's great (am only on my second game & the first one I retired after an early and complete failure)!  Some things are a bit clunky, but I feel the Spirit of MOM in here and am content.  I am excited by the potential for modding as well!  Very well done.  :)

Have you been disbanding troops? That is usually the cause for this, if money is not the issue.

In earlier beta versions of FE, troops cost population. If you then disbanded a unit, the number of man within it got added to the nearest city as population. The devs later removed this, but in some cases it still happens. Mostly for mercenaries, darklings and other recruitables.

....duh. N00b alert!!

 

Of course.  I had been periodically disbanding mercenary hunters.  Each hunter "unit" consists of three troops.

 

I didn't connect the notification to the previous action taken and misunderstood "3 troops" to be three whole units.  : /
