Feature Request - 'Pin to start menu' makes Start menu longer

In Windows 7 if you pin a lot of items to the Start menu, the Start menu becomes longer to accommodate the extra icons. In Start8 if you add too many items, the menu stays the same length and any additional icons just get pushed down and become un-clickable.

Please make it so Start8 becomes longer as you pin more items to the Start menu.

I could have sworn that Windows 7 only allowed about 10 pinned items to show on the start menu, and anything beyond that was pushed out of sight.

Anyway, regardless how Win7 worked, my vote is against changing Start8's present behaviour! That is, do not make the Start8 start menu grow taller just so that it can accommodate more visible pinned items - please, in the name of all that is right, good and true, keep it as it is. (I suppose I may have gone just a smidgen overboard in my plea to leave it as it is. ;-))

regards,

Laurence

That's not the case...

Why would you be against this. I don't see how adding this as an option would effect you. I would like to keep using Start8 because it has the best aesthetics. but it is so much easier for me to use another Start menu replacement because Start8 won't let me pin enough items.

You can increase the number of icons to show in the Start8 UI as a workaround.

Oh thanks I didn't notice that setting. That pretty much solves my problem.

Hi qyjack,

In your initial post, I didn't know you were merely requesting an additional optional setting; in such a case, certainly I would not be against such a request.

And I just went and dug out my laptop with Win7 on it, and lo and behold, you are most definitely correct about Win7's start menu growing taller by pinning more items to it: I don't recall my laptop's screen resolution (probably the typical), but my start menu could accommodate up to 15 visible pinned items, as it reached for the sky/top of the screen to do so. I suppose the reason I never noticed it before was due to the fact that I never went over about 7 items maximum. Live and learn.

qyjack, I'm glad to hear that setting which Neil mentioned solved your problem.

regards,

Laurence
