2 Bugreport and 1 Feature request

Hello,

I stumbled on 2 bugs with Start8 (latest beta) on Win 8 Pro x64 (German).

1. The recently used applications list doesn't pdate properly for me. In fact, it works very poorly here. Only once in a while a recently used programm makes it into the list. Hence making the list useless.

2. The user image is sometimes gone, meaning where normaly should be the user image shown in the start menu is only a white square. Hover with the mouse over "User name", "Documents", "Picture" etc. then makes it seeible again.

Here are 2 pictures. The first shows an nearly empty list (only IE in it) where should be at least some programs listed. The second shows the empty user image problem.

Dengel

P.S.: One feature request. If you can employ an function to disable jumplists in the start menu, I would be very happy for that ;-)

The recently used apps list is based on the OS data, Start8 doesn't do the collection of the data itself.

Could you check that you have the OS option enabled by right clicking on the taskbar, picking properties and looking at the jumplists tab.  The two privacy options should be enabled.

Regarding disabling jumplists in the start menu, right now the only way is to disable jumplists in the OS via the jumplist tab.

Thank you for you answer. Jumplists are disabled now. So far, so good. But the problem with the recently used applications list remains. I understand that the OS is collecting the data about recently used apps. The recently used apps list in classic shell for instance works flawless for me. Unfortunately Start8 has some problems here. Any advices?

Any comment on the missing user image bug?

Cheers :)

Hi,

the recently used apps list works now thank to v1.1. First it didnt't worked but after a deinstall, regystry cleanung and reinstall now it works fine ;-)

One question: Is it normal that programs that are pinned to the taskbar doesn't show up in the list?

Still the missing user image bug is present. Any idea if that will be fixed in the next versions?

Then I discovered a new bug. When installing new programs Start8 shows the .ink ending in the Start menu. After a reboot it`s gone. See here

Right after the install:

After a reboot:

Not a big deal. But I thought you might know in order to fix the bug and raise the quality of your product.

Cheers, Dengel

End of dengel81's quote

It is normal for pinned items on the taskbar or startmenu to not show in the recent apps list.  It is possible with Start8 via a registry key to ignore taskbar pinned apps, but I don't think thats been documented yet.

I will see if we can reproduce that .lnk issue you encountered.  I assume the link worked fine, just with an extra .lnk on the end in the text label.

If you find that registry key, please let me know ;-)
