Attention Frogboy!!

Attention Frogboy!!

I am continuing to have an enormous problem with many of your software programs.

Skinbrowser
Vanishes when I try and use this program, Mostly in viewing and trying to apply skins from the browser with these categories, Logon and Windowblinds, I reinstalled the older version of windowblinds and the problem stopped. Now when I click on the Logon category it immediately vanishes....Also cannot download logon screens, from browser get error code 5 message

Windowblinds
Version 3.31h Uses too many resourses, after about 10 minutes using browser online, could no longer switch sites, enormous slow down, deleted 3.31h version and downloaded older version. Works Great, no slow down. I have a broadband system.

Weblinds
Cannot use weblinds, browser will not come up when I click on IExplorer Icon. Finally figured out it was weblinds, disabled program and browser not works fine, checked to see if popup control was checked it was not. By the way the popup does not work.

I am letting you know this because it gets very frustrating, to keep running into problems, Everytime you folks change something or come out with a new version, it works worse then the older ones. The fact that the older ones eventually expire and we are forced to use the new ones is not good, I am asking that this practice be stopped, and that if I want to use an older version I should be allowed to. Also if I choose not to renew the OD next year, and the programs expire then my purchase of windowblinds and other programs as a stand alone product will be useless....Thank you for having a terrific site, I think WC is great, but the software is what we are here for, it is like an artist who tries to be so perfect that the more he improves upon his creation the worse it becomes....

Thanks
Gregory J Nashif (WC level 4 user)

I do know that the current version of SkinBrowser has quite a few problems with stability, particularly on Windows ME.

As for why you haven't gotten a response from support, I'm not sure. Support is pretty good about responding to emails. But one thing we're finding is that an increasing number of places are blocking all emails that originate from a Verio domain (which we use).

One other thing I'll recommend here as it worked for me in the past with my SkinBrowser problems (I couldn't even get the thing to START!!! ) is to delete ALL the cookies associated with SkinBrowser/WinCustomize. I say all as I had a cookies in a couple different folders within the Documents And Settings folders - make sure you check all users including Admin and Default for any errant cookies...

It worked for me. I haven't run across this poofing yet (knocks on a circuit board)

This skin browser crashes for me everytime i try and use anything to do with skins and themes it make the whole concept of the program pointless...for now anyway >

I wish stardock would give us a choice so if we want to upgrade any program and if it does not work for us we can just reinstall the older one that did.

But no ofcourse the older version will not work now, So the people that are having problems with this program just have to sit and play with their thumbs. >

What I have discovered is that hovering over a link whether it is in a category such as logons, WB etc. or hovering over a Skin Link itself, will cause SB to crash (See Bill Sawyer)Bill shared this with me, so what I did was not hover, I quickly click the category or the skin, without hovering and it goes away, Bill also discovered that the larger the content in the tooltip description, that auto comes up when you hover over the link, the more the system will crash or go vanish....hopefully there will be a fix for this. By the way the vanishing happens differntly to different people. It can be on a category, a skin, or even on discussions. It just seems to happen randomly.

Peace

addendum to above message:

I worded a phrase rather badly, "...without hovering it goes away." What I meant to say is that when I do not hover over the link or skin no longer vanishes and the problem itelf seems to go away.

Peace.
