Turning a portion of your faction into ai operated 'zones'

This would be a solve all to late game large map micro management -

I always loved being able to turn some of my cities over to the ai, it worked great in Romance of the Three Kingdoms - another great example is the Hearts of Iron series where one can simply drag a box over the desired units/territory and select if you want them offensive/defensive/buildup & such (Perhaps it would require a champion to designate as leader for each area you wanted under ai control -

Could have an option to turn your Sov into ai - making your entire faction under ai control for those that just want to watch for a while, or could have just this city and maybe that one under human control with the other 7 controlled by one or more champions for you  "Tiberius Longloins, keeper of the northern portion of our territories has sacked the Tarth city of York Sire, shall we add this new conclave to his jurisdiction?"

I don't know how much it would take to implement this but it would really be neat to sit back & watch my Empire that I"ve spent the last 1000 turns building do mop up for me

I also really enjoy being able to micromanage some things, and at the same time being able to watch artificial intelligence play with my configurations.

I find that it would interesting as well, that is one thing that I like about Distant Worlds, you could have the AI take over portions of your empire, or the whole thing, so you could concentrate on the aspects you wanted to. Especially being able to take over my military, I do not mind doing the diplomatic aspects, but the war aspects can get to be a little tedious.

Suppose you could let a stationed champion have control of a city, then they gain experience since they were running things more on their own without you micro-managing them (and maybe not exactly how you would do it).

Toss in some settings, and make it happen.  This would also do wonders for making troops more important as champions would stay home more often.

Once upon a time, this was supposed to be in EWoM. Despite assurances that it was in the game, at release it wasn't.

I agree it would still be a nice idea. However, as FE is feature complete, this won't make it in..

Admittedly I have a chip on my shoulder about the laziness of the gamer nation, but come on. You are so lazy now you want the game to play itself for you? Get to work Earth. The slavers are inevitably coming for us and since we can't defend the planet worth a damn, we had better be hard workers.  :annoyed:

(Just kidding. This feature is totally superfluous, but would be fun to try out when I don't feel like going to the Redbox for a movie.)  ;)

Civ IV had this in the form of colonies. Worst mechanic ever, imo, as the AI never did what you would have intended them to do, and they always eventually turned against you.

Similarly, having the AI take over aspects of management for your city developments would be tricky as everything is tied down to a single queue.

It would be an interesting way to give yourself an extra challenge to work with what the AI gives you.  But this would only work if it were completely voluntary.
