[0.914][Bug] Schrodinger's Pioneer

This happened in the wee hours of the morning so I thought I was just sleep deprived. Sights like this will make you seriously think about going to bed.

So I stormed Medden's Cross and took it rather handily from Resoln. When tactical combat ended and I returned to the world map, Resoln had a stray Pioneer camped due south of the city. No big deal.

Except this particular Pioneer was dabbling in quantum mechanics. Witness:

I don't remember what tile the Pioneer was actually in prior to the start of the Medden's Cross tactical battle and if the actual tile somehow shifted. I don't think so. I think it was just a visual artifact.

However, Derek, if you guys are secretly working on some future phasing ability for AI units to straddle and randomly shift around tiles, please let us know so I won't rush out to get my prescription checked.

I've seen similar happen with the rivers on the world map. It was weird building docks a full square away from the river, but that was the only spot it would let me place. Got out of build mode and hovered over the square and sure enough, was showing as river, and the actual river tile was showing as plains or swamp.

my cat does the same with his food : he covers four tiles of the floor with his paws and then hisses

does he think I like catfood ?

(seen this happen both on the world map and during combat)

I've seen this quite a lot too, not only with pioneers but with Sovereigns, champions, either by themselves or with other units.  Sometimes they snap back to where they actually are, but a lot of the time it needs a reload.

I've found that the unit has never moved from the tile it is actually occupying, just the graphic for the unit is displaced.  They can move normally, you just need to check the actual tile it is sitting in rather than where the graphic is.  On your screen shot the pioneer is on the actual tile highlighted, the tile with the bottom right pioneer in it.
