I am using Windows 7 x64. My Admin and Recent Items on my Start Menu are set to menu mode, not windowed. When I mouse over them the resulting window is transparent - not even anything to mouse over or tab to. I just updated to the latest beta, prior to that I had not noticed a problem (my bad) Just in case it was a ruined or older skin with the problem I switched to more than half of my skins with no change. It is either something wrong with my Windows or something wrong with WB. It had been working a couple weeks ago when I was learning skinning.

try disabling WFX5 and see if the problem goes away

OK, both WFX4 32 and WFX5 64 were running. I stopped WFX4 (which is a service) and it didn't help, so I stopped WFX5 and still nothing. I disabled WFX4 - couldn't find where WFX5 was booted from  - and restarted the computer. It started with no 4 or 5. Stuff works. I tried to restart 5 to see what would happen and it refused. I suspect that WFX5, because it is a beta, needs WFX4 in order to run or 5 installed incorrectly. I also surmise that WFX4 32 bit and WFX5 64 bit do not like each other. It doesn't seem that 5 will run unless ?? perhaps it needs 4?

Shouldn't Stardock Central show that both 4 and 5 are installed? As well as OD 1.9 and 2.0? which I forget to install. They do not fight about it or cause any grief, they have always been polite. It would be handy for air-heads like me to have SD Central show what is really installed instead of just the newest.

Are you confused by my circular logic yet?

I've seen these symptoms with Dopus. Disable WFX5 and the menus work fine, enabled all I see is their shadow. A little bird told me to turn of animated menus in Dopus and it fixed my problem.

I don't have 4 installed so I only see services wfx32.exe, wfx64.exe (I'm running W7x64) and WindowFXSRV.exe

WFX5 beta is actually version 4.97 so there may be some confusion. The WFX5 configuration dialog has and "on-off" switch and that is how you should enable/disable it.

SDC will only show what you used it to install or items you installed via the store. Impulse installations do not always show up.

Bah, never used Impulse. These were all done by hand. Don't even think the install I had was called Impulse. Mine was a 4 tab thing with games and news - it looked on my HD for the product but recently never could even recognize the serial numbers. It was some type of web browser thing (maybe Impulse?) Before that was something called Stardock Central (sound familiar?)

(wouldn't let me cut'n'paste)

Back then a bunch of things looked WAY different. You should see WindowBlinds. I like the style of Theme Manager in 2008.

I'm seeing the same thing with secondary (cascaded) menus on XP SP3 with WFX5 (4.97) only (though it is curiously in a folder named WindowFX4).  With WinFX5 disabled, secondary menus display normally.

Seeing it now on my Win7Pro 64bit rig, too.  Turn off WFX5 --> all's well.
