Should I remove existing registrations?

Seriously, what should we do now that Impulse is no longer working with Object Desktop? Should I remove my OD registrations from Impulse? I have a Tiles update, and it refuses to update thanks to this . . . and it's really annoying.

. . . and it's kinda sad that Impulse is going games-only, rather than apps and games. In all seriousness, I've always felt that Windows has needed an apps store, rather than the current method of scouring the internet for applications. Sigh, perhaps Windows 8 will provide this. I was kinda hoping that the ultimate vision of Impulse was really for regular apps as well as games, but alas that is not to be :(.

Well, the internet way is prone to hackers and malware authors, and is a bit inconvenient to find anything. Can't say I'm thrilled about it.

The lower the control over the apps in the store, the lower the security: The Android apps store has far less "Moderation" and review than Apple's - a good part of the reason for the surge (>400%) in Android malware, and a good reason not to "jailbreak" your phone.

You can have one or the other... I'd prefer that anything I put on my computer is bug free, spyware free and clean of apps which might steal my identity or direct me to a site which will...

What you find on this site is clean, and meets Moderation's standards...including walls, blinds, etc.

What you find in the store is 100% clean, and guarded. Your credit information is not stored.

Therefore people don't pick up malware/viruses, etc. here.

Quite right, it would help users to find software easier. 

I would not like a store which would show best treatment to programs who are on the 'Microsoft gold star, advertise with us and give lots of money so your software will have prime placement' group. A lot of good small programs will miss out because they don't reach the requirements that Microsoft forces on them ... but it's not up and running yet, we will see. 

 I'll stick to my software portals / rss feeds  :)

Microsoft's app store will be interesting to watch.  If Stardock's apps are on it. they may get more visibility to a wider population and with ratings they may bubble up to the top and sales may increase.  I like that.

But . . apps that tie into the explorer process (like ours do) may not be accepted.  That . . I wouldn't like.

Right now, the only apps that are allowed in are ones that are Metro enabled, so that's going to severely limit the selection at first.
