ManOWar2 ManOWar2

Hi

Hi

New to SOSE - GALCIV2 veteran

So, I just bought the game, SOSE : Triniy throught digital download in impulse. I played the tutorial for basic movement and the game look awesome.

Should I start playing it by chapter or right-away with trinity (diplomacy?)

Is there any major difference between theses mods ?

Is the game already up to date ? Do I need to make other update ?

Thank you in adva.ce

So after beating 3-4 games of normal AI in regular sins, I just tried Entrenchment.

I started with 3 normal AI. 1 of the normal AI got beated without even me attacking him. Now I control a bit more than the third of the solar system and the other two the rest.

I find entrenchment a bit easier. Did not tried the pirates at all, neither in sins BTW (turned them off after 2 5 minutes games...)But I'm pretty sure I could handle them easily now.

I see that the AI has difficulty to deal with starbase...Also, I see them building starbases in area that I can just avoid to easily to defeat their fleet then I send theses torpedo bomber and GG...

Think I'll try pretty soon against hard AI... I'll wait a bit more before I try diplomacy. Gonna play couple games at least, plus this one I have to finish.

Are the maps differents in each mode ?

Yes, the AI is both bad at attacking starbases and using them.  You can easily lure it away from its defenses, and an undefended starbase is easily neutralized with the right countermeasures.  You'll need to play multiplayer to live out a true siege battle in all its glory, the AI just can't do it justice.

Random-Small is the only one I'm aware of that changed.  It got larger in Entrenchment (no change from Entrenchment to Diplomacy).  It's ironically one of the more spacious maps now.

Since you're playing on Entrechment, I recommend the "quick-start" game setting.  This conveninently begins with the capital shipyard and extractors already built, which effectively gives you higher starting cash since you don't need to pay for them.  This really is a quick-start as a result.

From a strategic standpoint, the Hard AI isn't any different than the Normal AI.  The Hard and Unfair AIs just get economy buffs, 1.5x and 2x I think.  Once you feel comfortable with the game and can manhandle the Unfair AI, you might want to consider playing Sins in online multiplayer against real human players.  However, you'd need the Diplomacy expansion since that's where the action is.

The hard and unfair will feel a bit smarter even though they aren't.  Their larger amount of resources means they have an easier time balancing their expenditures and meeting their needs, so they tend to be better-balanced as a result.  But yeah, in terms of "smarts" the AI is actually the same at every difficulty.
