Custom Emblems and Faction Portraits

I don't know if this is the correct place, but it seems like my best shot... Anyways, is there a way to import custom faction emblems and leader portraits that doesn't involve a massive mod? Say I just wanted to use paint (or something) to create my own faction emblem, could I somehow use it in game?

Put them in: -
My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar(or your version)\Gfx\Logos. They must be in .png format.
My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar(or your version)\Gfx\Portraits. These alsom must be in .png format.

 I use 256x256 ass a size.

Now that that's been covered, I have a question.  How can one convert the more common file types like .bmp and .jpg into .png?

Any imaging software can do this for you. The easiest one i have found to use is Irfanview http://www.irfanview.com/

Simply open an image in that and press 's' to save-as and select the format you wish to save in.

 

If you are looking for a logo that has a transparent background you should try a more intensive program such as paint.net http://www.paint.net/
