Adding defrag to dock

Hi guys and girls!

I ahve been messing around with objectdock plus and I like the extras....I have been adding a tab for my tools and certain ones are proving to be a pain adding to the dock....

System recovery, defrag etc...I have sent these to desktop as links and then added to dock, but they don't want to work.

Has anyone any experience of setting up these on the dock?

It would be nice with all my extras folder in a tab dock ...

Hi again!

Something I have just noticed....If I make a Windows shortcut I can find the "rstrui.exe" in the system32 folder...BUT if you add a shortcut to your dock and try and configure the shortcut.....no "rstrui.exe"....?! What I mean is you can browse to system32, but "rstrui.exe" isn't there when configuring your shortcut on the dock

It doesn't make sense, but what does in Windows.......

64 bit windows 7?

 Try This

C:\Windows\Sysnative\rstrui.exe

I usually just drag the main .exe file to the dock. I do not put it on my desktop first. Never had any issues doing it that way with the exception a few screwed up icons that I have to manually change.

Hi guys!

Hi have tried creating a normal link on the desktop and then adding it to the dock..nada?!

Thats what I find strange...If you add a normal shortcut to the dock and then browse to C:\Windows\System32\ and look for rstrui.exe you wont find it.

That is why dragging the link to the dock doesn't work....? Just comes up "couldn't find that file and please check you have the right name etc"

This must be a problem with objectdock plus?

BTW tried both suggestions ...don't work..

I am on win 7 64 bit with Object Dock 1.9 Plus

so don't know if it will work if you have the NEWER Version

Open this folder location C:\Windows\System32\dfrgui.exe

Right Click on dfrgui.exe then click on Send to then Click on Desktop (Create Shortcut)

It will show as dfrgui.exe – Shortcut you can rename it to whatever you like.

Example dfrgui now Make a new folder on the Desktop name it whatever.

I will use Defrag. Now move dfrgui to the Defrag folder.

Right Click on Defrag folder then click on Send to then Click on Desktop

(Create Shortcut)

It will then be named Defrag – Shortcut move it to the Dock.

Now you can Delete Defrag – Shortcut folder on the Desk top NOT DEFRAG folder

Now Right Click on the Defrag – Shortcut folder on the dock click on

Dock Entry Properties

You can rename the folder here to Defrag

Then click OK.

You can even change the Icon for the folder here to.

Here’s the Catch you have to KEEP the Defrag Folder on the desk top too.

But you can hide desktop Icons.

and Yes It Works  as for OD + 2.?  I can't say I don't have that one....

OH and yes you can add more to that folder just do all the same steps Except making a new folder

just for the one's that are giving you a hard time with...

Hope this help you out ... I know it's a ROUND about way but it works  and XP users can do this Work Around

Hi Again!

OK! I am using a Swedish version of Windows 7 Ultimate 64bits and I am not certain when translating functions from Swedish to Englisn...LOL

I have done similar to what you explained, but sent the whole "Syestem Tools" folder to the desktop as a link and then dragged the folder into my tabbed dock.

If I click on the folder - I can choose from the folder which program I want and it works fine....

Now to create a tab for the other ones that are left...
