After a week testing XP

After a week testing XP

First the ui looked great, eye-candy as hell, pretty nice and real fast so i said "wow!, this os rules!", not only the windows or objects, but everything, even the folder/file description or options looked integrated, precise scrollers and all looked nice, "WOOOW!, the best OS ever!", that was the most stupid thing i ever said, after some days the UI didnt look so nice as before, just another MS default everybody will have soon, tiring and common, the stupid folder/file description and options that looked so good before now started to being a pain in the neck, seems like windows is starting to become another macos where is very easy to use the PC but very hard to get all the potential because all the "Wizards" or "Fast and Easy" stuff all around, its well know that the more easy the less power, Linux is a great example, after a while i installed WindowBlinds XP because Luna was starting to became boring, i noticed most Windows 2000 drivers worked on Windows XP, even the usage is very similar not to said equal, same stuff, but all the "easy to use" stuff is still there, and doesnt wants to go, i go back again to Windows 2000... now that was the same looking different, but heck, at last i can move freely around the system, not funny fading menus, just file name and preview, i can configure the web look of my folders freely again to match WB skins, off course you can turn most of XP funny stuff off, but why should i pay for that?, why should i keep the same hardware so XP activation dont complain? why should i paid anually?, windows 2000 is and looks like is going to be the best MS OS ever, XP is just... XP, can get that with some 3rd party companys as Stardock, its going to be more wise to stick with the fast and powerfull Windows 2000 and waste my money on something more necesary like advanced english lessons so i can stop posting with so many errors
Off course you cant trust Microsoft, is more like they are going to make winxp no comaptible with win2k so users cant stick with it and use the newest apps... Viva Linux!, not the most easy, not the faster, not the best looking, but the best OS ever. So what now? should i check my gramm? Nah!

note: in the last lines of my recent post i was crying and looking high at the sky, if you can add some drama music while reading it... And take a fork and hold it up and claim your rights, dont be afraid to use it...

Just noticed after read it again that was a little drammatic...

I think I'll have to agree that you're letting your opinion of MS as a monopolistic company (a sentiment I agree with, btw) color your opinion of their OS. That's certainly your right, though I think you'll miss out in the long run because of that attitude.

WinXP is just Win2k with better compatibility, better driver support, a more polished (and optional) interface, wizards to assist those that need it with common tasks (you *can* still do practically everything the old-fashioned way, if you prefer), a few nice and convenient features (like built-in CD burning, MP3/WMA en/decoding, image and media management...the list goes on), improved boot-up speed, and better profile and user-switching management. Not to mention the new and improved graphics APIs that make products like WB and DX even more useful and powerful than before.

So think what you will, and base your decisions on whatever prejudices you like. In the end, WinXP will be (already is) a better OS than Win2k, if just for the compatability issues alone. If you pass it up, it's your loss.

Woah! Lemme say it again: Woah! Looks like I've got myself a couple of playa' hata's...

AJ - I can (and do) dig where you're coming from. We're on different ends of the same spectrum but are able to pretty much see where the other one is coming from... I can dig it...

but Fa65*BFh... wow man, you've got some seriously bad juju coming off of you! I quit using ICQ waaaaaay before MSN's IM came out. It turned into a convaluted piece of poo. Too many things going on when all I wanted to do was chat with the boys'n the hood.... and all of your monopoly talk makes me hungry for some McD's fries... still trying to win a million in diamonds

...you need to calm down a bit... relax... try going here: http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneylandresort/index it does wonders for folks

Fa65*BFh: A paragraph break occasionally would do wonders for the readability of your messages.

Tarkus- Yeah, i know, buuuuut i never know when to add one, and i write as i spech, confusing fast an weird

Hoverboy - Yeah, what u say is just an example of my explanation, you dont give a shit so you dont give a shit, most ppl dont give a shit and just want to hang around without giving a shit, thats a nice life, you just follow the commands of publicity and big companys, no need to worry about anything, same goes for globalization, and for the "mazones", ppl who are glad to please ppl who dont give a shit, easy to control, off course there is no need to worry, as i said is a nice life, too bad i dont like to hang around without giving a shit very often... too bad...

Note im not paranoic or anything, i go to work, go to the movies, even buy some cool hardware stuff from MS, spend my money on extremme riffting, climbing, etc... but facts are facts, and i dont like the facts.

I tryed to add paragraph breaks more often... but seems weird anyway. oh well!, if writing where like programming!, you KNOW when does everything needs to be placed ; {} [] -> . no need to worry there anyone remeber RTF formatt? "\pair"

Whoa, Fa. Step back.

First, I don't think I'm alone when I say that you need to watch your language. Someone on here once got warned over using the word "crap"; you took it a step even further.

Second, While I obiously agree with Hoverboy on this issue, that doesn't color the fact that your last post was uncalled for. You're definitely crossing the bounds of a logical and frieindly discussion. I fail to see how his being a fan of WinXP suddenly means he doesn't give a %$*&. You're over the line.

Watch it.

Language, please, Gents...
The odd expletive for effect is one thing, but trying to out-do the Beverly Hills Cop is quite another...

Fa65*BFh: If you're worried about where to put your paragraph breaks, just throw one in every few lines. Doesn't necessarily have to be a change of thought or anything. Just something to break up the long text. Thanks.

Ok... thinking of how to address that last one...

Great logic, I like an OS that is made by a company that you loathe therefore I fall into this stereotype that you've created yourself. Seems to me that you are a victim of your own claims. Maybe you've bought into the anti-MS campaign that is sponsored by *Other Big Corporations* to try and convince you that MS is evil and must be stopped. Have you looked into any of the anti-MS press that you see on the Web? Like 99% of it is derived from "studies" and "polls" sponsored by these anti-MS groups that are funded by MS competitors, who in turn are big companies themselves. It's all a big he said/she said story, and you'd do best to keep yourself away from some of the tech "news" sites such as ZDNet, whose business it is to make the tech world seem like it's worthy of being on the cover of the National Enquirer, when really, it's not. All big companies (MS included) have spin doctors all over the place who's job is to convince the reader that what 'Company A' said about them is not nearly as bad as it was made out to be. If you're so anti big business, why not atack the other big bad tech companies, there are lot's of 'em? Because you've hopped onto the MS-Bashing bandwagon and bought into the hype. You're becomming a victim of your own speculation. Many of the "bad" things (regarding .Net and other future items) that you claim MS will do have yet to transpire and you're all worked up because you've convinced yourself that they will.

I've tried many OS's (Be, Linux in it's various flavors, OS X, GEOS!!!!) and WinXP is by far, for me and what I do, the best thing to come along so far. It get's my job done, and it does it very well. Claiming that I don't give a poo about life and that I'm nothing more than a sheep in man's clothing, a drone controlled by slick advertising and big business all based on my choice of OS is a quite silly actually...

...visualize a vacation...

...I just saw an Old Navy commercial and the lady told me that "I've gotta get that look" so I've got to go shopping now... I can't help myself... must... purchase...

Ok,ok, never tryed to make someone feel unconfortable (if thats the word), anyway, its weird i always seems to want to get falmmed.

For once i will hold myself and speak clear, i always get, how did you say?, very emotive, and more when im posting, much of what i post is not what i say normally, so i need to learn to control myself, anyway you are right hoverboy, i need some vacations, i have been reading slashdot since too long ago, , anyone knows it? http://www.slashdot.org

And sorry about the language, as i said i get too emotive on this kind of stupid matters

why not just turn off the features that u dont like? eg the descriptions, everything is optional! u can even go back to the windows classic look if ud want to

as for the luna themes, why not try silver or olive, silver is definately the best out of the three

the fading menus can be turned off, as well as other visual effects by right mouse clicking on my computer and choosing properties

XP activation doesnt complain every time u change ur hardware config, ive added and removed about 15 pieces of hardware in about 2 weeks on my copy of XP, and have only had to activate once...

compatability is one of the huge features of XP, right mouse click on an executable and you wills e a compatability tab, go to that and u can choose how you would like to run that app (eg if the app was made for 98 u can make the app think its running under 98)

i dont understand what all this microsoft hatred is all about... u complain about XP, and yet u use win 2000, you probably use MS Word, Excel and outlook express for your emails

Microsoft routinely issues service packs to patch security problems with its browser. In this case, however, Web surfers who installed the product were unable to view QuickTime video. The same problem affects a test release of Microsoft's new Internet Explorer 6 browser.

With IE 5.5, Microsoft discontinued support for plug-ins, according to a Microsoft representative. Instead, the browser relies on technology developed by Microsoft known as ActiveX that links desktop applications to the Web.

ActiveX has been seen as a challenger to Sun Microsystems' Java programming language, which Microsoft has said will no longer be supported by default in its pending Windows XP operating system and IE 6.

----- Taked from a news site, no kidding Java is better since it supports multiple OS and not just Windows, also noted that MS added a very crappy and slow (almost high school work) Java support on IE4, when java was just realased and needed some bust.

Microsoft is working to incorporate the well known "Start" button from the Windows Platform into X Windows' Gnome interface. "We just can't figure out how the hell to get that darn foot out of there! The damn thing is like stuck."

--- keep laughing about this one
--- The first link stinks , but will be funny to show it to a friend from my work, he IS a Linux lover.
