Losing a Sister

Does not seem fair :(

Well it seems like there has been a lot of bad news being shared lately and I have more to share. My younger sister has been battling stage 4 cervical cancer for a few months now. I just got word from my father today that her kidneys have shut down and she only has a few days at best to live. 42 years old is much to young to die but I guess death knows no age.

For those who believe in it I would appreciate your prayers.

Thank you all

Ken, I'm terribly saddened by this. You know my prayers go for your sister and her family. Such a young woman....this is a tragedy, indeed.

Hold onto the love, Ken. It never dies. Hold onto the memories and if you can, be present to give your sister and her family your love...

You're all in my thoughts and prayers, bud. I echo WG's hope regarding pain or discomfort.

All of you are very kind. Thanks to all who have wrote here. I am a little emotional right now. When you go through something like this you do a lot of reflecting. You begin to think of how trivial some things are and the importance of others.

For many life means little. People are killed over a few dollars. I recently seen a wallpaper on flickr of a man shooting a person at the edge of a cliff and how others commented on how cool the wallpaper was. It was a vector wallpaper and many would shrug it off as art but not me. It depicts something real and the reality it depicts is hate and that life can be disposed of like a piece of trash.

You may ask what this has to do with my sister dying of cancer. I guess directly it has nothing do do with it. Cumulatively it has caused me to reflect about how fragile life is. There are no guarantees about how long we have on this Earth. That is why it is important to live life in such a way so there will be no regrets or at least as little as possible. When you have made as many mistakes as I have it is hard to not have some regrets. The past is the past though and today is a new day God has given us.

Sorry for my rambling, like I said I am a little emotional right now.

I hope your sister is at peace and imparts that to all of you around her...... just so unfair... too young......  :-|   so sorry JC....

Everyone makes those mistakes, Ken. Everyone. Not surprising that you'd react that way to that ugly wall... it's commendable.

Take it slow, my friend. This pain is going to decrease in severity and frequency... over time. Allow yourself to grieve as you feel you must, and not as you think others expect or allow.

People will understand and think no less of you. Believe me.

Junior, I hate to hear it, man. I lost a sister a while back from pancreatic cancer. I hope someday we find cures for these illnesses, seems technologically we should be there soon.

I will definitely put you on the prayer list at church, and my personal prayer list too. God bless you and your family. He will see you through this.

I really appreciate all of your support everyone. I have not been a member here all that long so the response has surprised me a little. I have read comments of how special this site and its members are and now I have felt it. I never want to leave this place.

Again thank you all. I have not thanked you individually but I have read every comment and they all mean a lot.

Jim I hope someday there will be a cure for many cancers. This makes me want to do something to raise money for research. Walking across Canada has been done but maybe I could do it backwards ;)
