[1.19] Damage still not shown??

Guys, please, let me know whether it is my comp's problem or it is general.

The damage dealt still is not shown properly over the heads of combatant. Furthermore, before by hovering the mass on my opponent i could see his actual HP, right now it does not get refreshed!! To know how much HP has my opponent i have to de-select my unit and click on opponent ... Takes forever and drives me crazy ...

Yes, there seem to be quite a few problems with the way the tactical battles have been programmed. Brad has mentioned that the multi-threading code should have allowed many calculations to occur concurrently but tactical battles seems very linear in the way the code runs them.

The problems are:

1. As mentioned in the OP the damage and feedback text during battles is not consistent and sometimes shows incorrect information.

2. You have to completely wait for animations to finish before it is safe to select a unit. This one really gives me the shits. Example: One archer is shooting at an enemy unit. You then select the next archer unit - which it highlights. The first animation isn't done yet but you're trying to setup the next attack. The animation finishes and the archer unit you had selected loses focus and another unwanted melee unit gets the focus. You right-click the target and instead of an arrow streaming toward the target your melee unit leaves its spot and tries to find a path to the target. This functionality is what you expect from games over 15 years old - not games that have multi-threading.

3. Sound will intermittently cut off during battles as though it is running out of memory or resources.

4. I still don't think the battle card calculations are accurate but until someone from Stardock explains what is happening in the battle calcs there is no reliable way to double check. A unit with a to-hit percentage above 90% should be only getting a dodge result one in ten, not one in three which is typically what happens.

I also have noticed the hp on the infocard, but I also found a CRUDE kludge of a workaround, just move the cursor off the square of the unit and then back to the unit and the infocard will get the updated value.

Honestly, I'm not having these issues.  Are your video card drivers up-to-date?

Agree also about inaccurate informations on unit cards: in one battle i calculated that a chance of hitting over 80% (one miss in five) i have more misses than hits (like 10 to 8)

and quite often it happens that i miss three out of five, though the percentage is never below 80 ..

 

 regarding drivers - yes, i have updated drivers and around 70 games running smoothly, except Elemental for some unidentified mysterious reasons ...

Temporarily, it may be useful to turn off "auto-select next unit" or whatever it's called in the options.  This at least prevents other units being selected automatically in the tactical or strategic map.

Do you mean dodges, or blocks, or both?

A blocking miss is still considered a hit in the calculations - just the armour absorbed any damage.

hard to say - since i do not any informations .... :)

sometimes it says that the hit was blocked or dodged and it was actual hit - as i mentioned information over head is screwed; 

by animation it looks as a miss (dodge)
