Movement vs. armor

So what do you folks think about sacrificing leg armor for extra movement?  I for one have started to appreciate being able to move faster than mostly everything, since move 2 is the standard. Don't seem to be missing the armor much eaither.

depends on what's in your squad. your fastest thingy is as fast as your slowest...

so you can make squads with 4 movements and squads with 3 (and that's not even counting mounts).. mixing gender / skill / etc with gear to give the desired effect...

I go with speed rather than leg armor - extra movement is always useful, even when not in combat, whereas leg armor makes a minimal difference only in combat.

Yup speed before armor, but as soon as i can afford it they all have both. I've run into more than a few fights where that extra armor saved my Sov and hero's from being dragon-chow.

My first born son is the ultimate tank in the game I am playing now, he has something close to 90 armor and near 70 dodge, immune to magic, and can't be counterattacked.  He also has an Int in the 30s so he is a fantastic caster too.  Oh that Xander makes good boys.

I do think there needs to be a couple more armor types, and I don't think you should be allowed to use a bow in light plate or heavy plate.

Whoa, how can you bump up to 90 armor? I've maxed out my characters in Legendary plate and I'm sitting in the high 50 to low 60 range.

Ive researched that repeatable armor tech, He is using all magic items and is Kingdom, so he has that turtle too, all legendary armor and a Master steel bracers, including the shield, and is using the Elemental Karrazan as his weapon.   He's level 8 I think, and most of his stats started off at 15-18 when was level 1, he's pretty bad ass.

Oh, okay, that makes sense.  I don't usually research that repeatable armor tech, so that could definitely be a difference maker.

Geeze Xia. Been avoiding winning To get your stats up high huh? Lol. That is pretty impressive. So tell me, how did you get his stats to be so high on the first level? Leveled up your sov and spouse before getting married? So yeah. So far in one game I have gotten to the point where my units can be both fast and have good armor. I think I prefer fast though, at least in the units I don't park for city defense.

Actually, I had a really crappy starting point and couldn't find a wife for a long time.  I was kind of stuck in a corner with no metal and an empire cutting me off from the world who had a ton of metal and while I was farting around, decided to actually try and kill me, which before 1.11 was completely unheard of.  And since I was using Xander as my Sov, I had no magic either.  So no magic and no metal mad a slow start.  so by the time I got a wife and had a kid grow up, yea, both parents were leveled.

To the opening post's comment... Leg Armor is better than +1 movement for soldiers. The movement won't help in combat. If you're concerned about movement, get a champion and raise their intelligence enough so that they can cast teleport. (Or, use your sovereign.)

That being said, I update my pioneers to wear traveler's boots. They cost a little more, but they get to their destinations faster.

Regarding movement points.. my Sovereign always has 1 more movement point than the spouse, cause she cant use the "JourneyMan" cape..  for 1.2 it should be remodeled to "JourneyPerson" cape so everyone has same movement..

I just research horses and throw all my sovs and heroes on a horse so they don't have to sacrifice the armor or the movement.  I always make one heir a "movement pimp" of sorts.  Boots, horse, magical equipment, cloak so they can have 8 movement points and collect all the new goodies as I research them.

Many times I don't feel like I can make horses a priority for reasearch though... and that's even using the mod where you can make a building to give your horses/wargs. The games when I don't play with that mod it's useualy a very late game thing.

I guess you could get a group of champions together on horses you buy in the stores, but that also doesn't seem likely to happen for me until late in the game.

However I do enjoy being able to have calvary groups.
