themebar?

How come nobody uses themebar found http://www.microgarden.com/themebar

I seems to work great, takes up little resources, doesn't have any shareware nags, and is easy to make skins for. Yet there is no themebar section on this site.

Skinz.org has about 10 skins. There are a handful here and there on the net.

I'd think this util would be more popular. Can someone tell me what's up with it? Does everyone hate it? Should I be using something better? Free?

Thanks

Purrrr... btw, I wish they Allowed Themebar here too. But I doubt it will ever happen

I think the reason people don't use it is because there are other programs out there that will do what themebar does plus a lot more. WebBlinds and Windowblinds are just couple of examples. It loooks like a nice little prog, but it just doesn't have the options others do.

Purrrr... MooShoo WB dosen't do what TB does.

WB does, but it cost money.
Themebar IS Free!
Both are outstanding prodocts.

WB = Stardock Program
WC = Stardock site

TB = Has about as much chance as being offered here, as I do winning the lottery!

MooShoo: Neither WebBlinds nor WindowBlinds does everything that ThemeBar does. For example, let's see you change your Windows Explorer toolbar icons and/or throbber with either of those programs.

China: I don't think that's fair. They have sections for LiteStep and NextStart. Both of those programs compete with Stardock products as much as ThemeBar does.

More likely, the reason why there is no ThemeBar section is because they're trying to keep the site lean, and ThemeBar is simply not that popular of a program (hence the only 10 skins at Skinz.org).

Hey, China, with a face like that, you can get away with being ornery once in awhile.

If the folks at Microgarden (themebar home) would get smart, they'd make the skins for webblinds compatible with their system or make a conversion util. That would put them on top instantly.

They can't do that, or they'd get in trouble with Stardock. Remember CustomEyes...

WindowBlinds and WebBlinds use a trademarked skinning format. Yes, themebar (or anyone) would get in *big* trouble if they tried to use it. One thing to remember about WB formatted skins (and why we protect them) is that we actually have employees that we payed to develop the skin format, and we continue to pay to work here. It's easy to bash Stardock for not having "free" everything. But, if all our stuff was free, you wouldn't be on this site complaining about it because we wouldn't make any money to pay for it!

ThemeBar is not on this site because it's not popular enough. ThemeBar simply isn't popular enough.

Themebar isn't known enough... Cause there's really nothing that comes close...

Other than Explorer icons, WebBlinds does everything it does and then some. WebBlinds fully skins IE. It has alpha blended throbbers (nobody else has done that). It can fully change the color of IE (nothing else can do that). You can mix and match throbbers, buttons, and skins (nothing else can do that).

Not just Explorer icons, but Explorer in general. WebBlinds does nothing for Explorer.

I agree that WebBlinds is the better program for IE. I hope it someday supports WE.

Yes, if Webblinds supported all Windows Explorer icons, it would be as good as Themebar.
Alpha blended throbbers is cool, but if all icons could be alpha blended, now that would be excellent, and added to all of Windows Explorer icons suport, it would then be a product out of this world!!

I guess I don't see changing Explorer's icons to be that big of a deal. But to each their own.

WebBlinds also blocks pop-up banner ads too.

I just wish I could run web-blinds. My system just doesn't seem to like it right now. hopefully a build later down the line will work out for me soon.

Hehehe! Frogboy, you bust me up. I guess some people don't see changing Windows skins, or the desktop icons, to be that big of a deal. But yet, a lot of people buy Windowblinds and iconPackager. It's called customization, Frogboy, and it's cool.

FrogBoy: Exactly why is it a big deal to change icons in IE, but not in WE? What's the difference?

China: Who said anything about your icon?

Look, everyone knows that this customization thing is a fad. You know it, I know it, the American people know it.

The future is in typewriters. That's where I'm going! Typewriters!!!

But please do consider, in future versions, adding alpha blending to the icons, if it can be done!!! That is one feature I've always wanted for Themebar.
