admin rights on installation other installation issues

Stardock Central & Window Blinds

My laptop died and I'm trying to migrate my Stardock products over to my desktop.  I requested an email which sent me download links, serials and loose instructions for installation.  I installed Impulse and first attempted to install WindowBlinds.  Towards the end of the installation it told me I didn't have admin rights (I just set the login up a week ago but I rechecked and I do have admin rights) so I aborted and moved on to the next thing.  I then attempted to install GalCiv2 and it's expansions.  The copy of Dark Avatar installed, but there are no game icons on the desktop or on the Start menu - but I can still access the game in Program Files and run it, but I can't install any of the expansion packs because Impulse install Dark Avatar as being installed.  After trying this, I wondered if maybe the installations weren't going smoothly because I hadn't installed Stardock Central so I used the link in my email to download this program.  During installation I again get the same admin rights message and I have to abort installation.  Everything I've managed to find online regarding admin rights has been related to a security feature in Vista and Windows 7 which doesn't help me because I'm running XP.  I haven't emailed support directly yet, wanted to try the forums first.

Have you tried disabling your security software and then trying to install again?
