New Faction Creation options

Ok so does anyone know the bonuses they actually provide because the descriptions are way to vague.  Do the tech ones mean you already start with one level or does it mean you research them faster.  Does anyone know or know where I can look for them because I have just spent the last hour looking and could not find them anywhere.

Thanks

I posted a thread with a little bit of information regarding the techs.  Each of them grants a free tech.  But they are faction specific so if you choose a Kingdom tech but are playing as an Empire, you won't get the tech.  More info is totally needed.  And they should grey out the options that don't work for your choosen faction.

Here be some info regarding the custom faction techs of v1.09p

When you go into the Faction Creator (Main Menu/Workshop), there are some techs which you can customize your faction to begin the game with.  These techs are Kingdom and Empire specific.  Kingdom and Empires have their own tech trees.  So if you customize your faction to have an Empire tech, but you choose to play as a Kingdom, you will not receive the Empire tech.  To get the Empire techs you must play an Empire faction, and vic versa.

I've researched which techs belong to who, and what benefits they grant.  Thought I'd share...

Kingdom

Civilized ~ Grants the Civics tech located within the Civilization branch
Allows the building of School, Market, Library

Weathered Warriors ~ Training tech / Warfare branch
Allows the training of Experienced units

Adepts ~ Arcane Research / Magic
Allows the building of Monastaries and Arcane Temples

Wanderlust ~ Exploration / Adventure
   Reveals new resources

Entrepreneurs ~ Trading / Diplomacy
Allows Caravans and unlocks trading with other factions

Empire

Habitation ~ Proper Living tech located within the Emperium branch
Allows the building of Imperial Throne and Shanty

War Machine ~ Tools of War tech / Conquest branch
Unlocks Soldiers Cloak, Padded Grieves and Cuirass, Leather Helm, Light Wood Shield, Axe, Boar Spear, Fang Dagger
Allows the building of the War Council

Cartographers ~ Mapping / Domination
Reveals Notable Locations and "awakens more dangerous creatures"

Darkling Ambassader ~ Reunion / Cooperation
Allows the building of Darkling Camps

note: Normal building pre-reqs still apply (ie city size)

actually I have tried being a Kingdom and starting with Wartools. I was able to use Boarspears but the advantage is minimal; I still had to research the "equivocal" Kingdom tech.

Boar spears rule all at start. Seriously, they are usually the line between a tough start and an easy one for me.

Since we're talking factions here, I'm just going to splurge some requests:

FACTION COLORING WINDOW

There's primary clothing color, secondary clothing, metal color, map color, roof color.....but then there's these primary and secondary color options as well. What do those do? Can we get some better names for those, or some descriptive text for what they affect?

On a grander scale, could we get the model view in the faction creator window to recolor as we make selections?

FACTION DESIGN

Can we possibly define three skin colors that our custom faction will use when it generates models in the troop generator? There is a decided lack of "brown" people in Elemental, and while you could just add a few brown factions....it would be nice to be able to redefine those somewhere in game.

There just needs to be a better way to design factions visually. You don't get to do that at all right now, while you do get to do it with your sovereign. I feel like it's possible to adapt the same way of designing a sovereign visually, to custom factions. Like, you pick a large number of hair styles, clothing styles and skin colors and that gets added to a package the game draws from when creating units.

FACTION TEXT DESCRIPTION

This applies to Sovereign descs too. This thing is a tedious pile of crap to write in, no offense. You can't do line breaks, so it's just a block of text. It scrubs the text in there whenever you make any meaningful change to the faction you're creating. I don't know what it's using for text input, but if it could slightly more functional, that would be nice.
