Feature request

I would like to requst feature to "ignore" (make invisible) posts made by specified users - just like any other forum, there are quite a few trolls here (and moderators clearly dont do anything about them and their posts) who only try to ruin any reasonable debate.

thanks

Define 'reasonable debate'

Here is what you do Rebell44. Put on a pair of snow glasses and turn your monitor or lappy upside down and you will never be bothered by another post again.

Still cold there in Canada I see, jr.

Just ignore the person. If anything get out of hand report them.  v_v

a. Free speech and open dialogue are good...it's what my country (USA) was founded on.

b. Sounds like you want to "ignore" certain users regardless of their opinion...you don't need a button for that.

c. Everyone's concept of "Reasonable Debate" isn't the same. What seems reasonable to you may not be to me.

d. The moderators here...imho...do a great job. This insert personally pisses me off so there you go. (pushes ignore button...)

Problem is that I reported him at least half a dozen times and still nothing happened.

Then perhaps the person in question has not stepped out of line.

I never had any issue with the moderators on the forums. They do a very good job.

You could PM one to look into it, but be prepared for a direct answer.

Stick and stones, Rebell, its easy to ignore someone. I get it all the time :hrmph:

Perhaps but you're missing one very important detail. This 'Wild West' makes it possible for you and others, regardless of their opinions, to voice them without prejudice. Those you don't like ignore. Those you do join with them. It makes for very interesting discussions providing you observe these 'rules'.

Rule #1: Respect. Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Rule #2: Respect. Those whose  opinions differ from yours are to be expected and even encouraged.

Rule #3: Respect. If you can't do that bugger off!

"Problem is that I reported him at least half a dozen times"

To whom?

I certainly haven't seen a report notice.

Button....just below the word 'button' in this sentence...push it...we 'all' get the message...;)

To be honest the report system is way too forgiving. I'm still here! ZING!

Not for long!!!

I believe the Joe User forums may still have the ability to ignore a user. Since these forums cross each other you may want to check them out.

Your user ID will work there as well. Link

"I used "report" button 3 times today" [IE9 still doesn't handle quotes].

well no offence, but seeing as IE9 is still in the beta stage why oh why would WC want to do anything to make the site compatible with a beta program, the usual thing is that you wait until the final release then work with that. if your having trouble with "BETA" IE9 then i suggest you revert back to IE8 or use another browser. :)

I use 20+ forums and this is only one which has problem with it. Forum for internet dependant service should IMO work with most recent version of all major browsers.

Betas are kinda funny like that Rebel44. You might say they're summa time apps.

Summa times they work and ... summa times they don't. Have a nice day.
