Why does the land in your area of influence change?

Kingdoms use Life magic so the lands they control changes to reflect that influence as they are brought to life after the Cataclysm (no, not the WoW one), getting grassy lands. Empires use Death magic and the lands they control react similarly as they are brought to life after the Cataclysm (nope, still not the WoW one), getting "dead" lands.
