[Funny BUG] I've Imprisoned Lord Karavox and cannot kill him.

Yes, it's just as the title describes.

Close-up of Lord Karavox stuck in a city I took from him.  We're at war and I'd been trying to find him forever.  He had units out and about, but only one more city that I didn't know about, which I'd taken, without him in it.  I've been wondering where the hell he is for the longest time, when suddenly....

DUN DUN DUN.

I realize I've literally captured Lord Karavox without meaning to.  Here I am, thinking to myself, "Oh, God, FINALLY I can kill him."  So, I train a 'Rusher' (Was getting lazy with Designed Unit Names,) and try to move it to kill him.  Now, I full-and-well expected a pop-up...  Just not the pop-up that I received...

"Only Champions and Sovereigns may visit Notable Locations."  A-wha?

I find this rather hilarious, that he seems to have barricaded himself within the Ruins of Gandra sitting in the middle of his former city.  I figure, ah, what the hell, I'll just move my Sov in, clear the Ruin, and kill the punk.

Again, full well expecting a pop-up, I get...

"Something in the back of your mind tells you to turn around.  (Notable Location Level Required, 4.  Your level, 3."  (Or whatever it reads verbatim.)

My jaw dropped.  I even tried using the actual 'Attack' command.  Nothing works.  He's literally invincible until I clear those ruins...  Something ought'a be done about that...

Edit:  I have a save-game if you'd like it, and I'd be happy to snag Debug.err or DxDiags for you as well.  I also have a more zoomed out screen, but I doubt that'd help.

Okay, now the problem has become rather serious.  I really can't kill Karavox, under any circumstances...

Notice the Kraxis-Icon hovering above my army.  That's my Sov riding the Warg, a Squad of Archer Units, and a Squad of Rushers.

Notice here...  The Ruins of Gandra are now gone, I've explored them, emptied them out, and taken the Mithralar Shard that was inside.  (I still have no clue what those are for.  Shop Fodder I guess?)

I'm still incapable of killing Lord Karavox.  My plans for a Conquest Victory have gone out the window...  Which is a shame, because I have like, 20 levels in Conquest at this point and only like 8 in anything else...  Maybe more like 10 or 12 in Domination, but you get my point.

Still hilarious though...  Karavox is one smart cookie.

Edit:  Hey...  I never noticed all those tiny little people doing stuff in my city before.  Neat.

What happens if you Raze that City?

This game is rapidly reaching a point where it is growing a form of superior intelligence of its own. The AI is probably holding Brad prisoner in his bedroom as we speak while he was trying to change its code!

Are you nuts?  It's my only size 5 city.  I'm not razing it!  That's sad, considering it's not even my city...  It was Karavox's capital...

At times perhaps. But you did ask for a solution. Razing is a valid solution... :)

How the game treats moving through cities is problematic. This is just one more reason to change it.

Make peace with him. He will be your bitch for ever after unless your military weakens. Or you can make peace, sign a non aggression pact so he can move them when he leavers the city far enough use that curdgens inferno on him. It kills him instantly and no chance of escape. I have used that on factions I am allied with when they started harassing another faction, just cause the volcano to arise under the sov no matter where he is and its all over and no one suspects a thing. Best exploit ever!

Or destroy buildings so there is an open area adjacent to him. And enemies could as of 1.07 walk though your cities when at war.

Non-Agg pact wouldn't help.  It doesn't let you move through cities.  I found that out in the game before this one.  I was Non-Agg, Trade Treaty, Tech Treaty, and even Alliance Treaty with Tarth.  I was trying to explore the continent because I was basically locked in one little corner, but Irane had placed two cities and grew them to block the passes around the Mountain I needed to get by.  Even with all the pacts and treaties, my units could not move through the city.  Curgen's Inferno could work though.

Edited for Typo

Edit Again:

And granted, razing is a perfectly valid solution...  But even if it wasn't my only size 5 city, I still wouldn't raze it, unless I had a slew of other Size 5 cities, which I clearly don't.  Even then, I'd be loathe to do it, and I'd think most players would be.

It also has a farm, and I'm already at like -23 or something food...  Don't wanna lose that.

just clear four of the slums on ONE square next to him, two benefits 4 less food consumed, AND free space next to your target so you can attack.

I agree with harpo.  besides, isn't it time you 'redecorate that "capitol" you conquered?

So there's a goody-do-all enemy sovereign hiding in YOUR town, subverting YOUR every command, turning your citizens against you, clearly being protected by whatever militia remains from before you conquered it.

And you're playing EMPIRE.

And you DO NOT want to burn the city to the ground?

I'm confused.

It's Lord Karavox, he's hardly a 'goody-do-all,' as you put it.  Furthermore, why burn it down when I can keep it, my only size 5 city, and just let him rot in there until I'm ready to win the game?

@ Other Posters:  Why redecorate?  Both Empire's, don't need to change anything he's got in there, just add stuff probably.

Furthermore, this discussion, beyond the actual problem herein, is now moot, as Karavox is dead, the game over and won.

@Polistes:  Curgen's Inferno did the trick.  Thanks!

In the current game I have 6 level 5 cities (2 mine 4 captured)---I don't think I'd raze either unless in it was in a fit of rage or the last thing I did before I won the game. :annoyed:
