[1.08] Map Blank After Returning to Game from Options Menu

This is a repeatable bug, happens EVERY single time I go to the options menu and go back to the game.  The regular map (not the cloth map is there), but all units, cities, etc. are gone and the game slows to an absolute crawl just moving the map around. 

 

I normally play with cloth map enabled, b/c it's easier to track units.  When returning from the options menu, however, the cloth map is no longer enabled or visible.   The same problem happens if I alt-tab and then return to the game. 

 

This bug essentially means that I am unable to save or load games, barring exiting the game every time.  Which is frustrating, because this game takes FOREVER to load.

I've found a workaround for my bug.  When I go to the game options, if I check then uncheck the "Cloth map only" toggle, the game runs normally again. 

It seems to me that on resuming from the options menu, the game forgets to go back to the cloth map and has to be reminded for it to work again.

Please open your debug.err file in notepad, and link the contents into a post here via pastebin. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem.

The file can be found in My Documents\My Games\Elemental

Be sure to copy the debug immediately after the error occurs; if you start the game again, the debug log will be erased and recreated for the new session.

Another thing to not is if i alt tab or switch screens and come back alot of the timse all my city borders and allies ones , dissapear.

it fixes its self by saving and reloading tho.

If I'm understanding the problem you're describing, I've seen it also.  However, for me, zooming in and out with the mouse wheel makes the units and cities reappear.

I get the same problem.  Have had it since the first version.  Zooming in and out sometimes works to get the cloth map back, but go to the game options, at the clothmap zoom slider.  Sliding up or down by 1 number then back to the game always brings up the cloth map.......and on with the game.
