[1.06][Bug] Dynasties and more

Evening gentlemen of Stardock,

Yesterday while playing I experienced a few troublesome bugs which I have documented here:

Bug 1: The second daughter of my main sovereign got "interactable" at the age of 20 as most of them do (not sure what to call it, but she became available on the map, my first daughter got interactable at 17, is it random?), and to my surprise she had a baffling 40 essence and 5 movement points (which made quite happy to have her). The same turn (or the next one, I can't quite remember) I made a foolish attack on an enemy sovereign and lost two of my best champions. I decided to reload my game from the latest autosave, which (I presume) happened on the turn my second daughter got interactable.

And here's the problem; when I loaded the game up and checked on my second daughter, she was a spider.

Let me repeat that.

She was a spider. And not present anywhere on the map. (I'm sure it said (DEAD) in her stats in the dynasty tab, but I could be wrong).

After recollecting myself I thought it was kind of silly and reloaded the game again.

My daughters dynasty model had now turned into a roaming bandit and was still nowhere to be seen. Now I was certain that there was some memory corruption going on and restarted the whole game.

As I loaded up the autosave and checked the dynasty tab, I saw that her icon was the same as the other babies. "Odd", I thought and clicked on it. The usual big rendering of the model to the top right was now a painted portrait (I'll upload an image of this later today), and no matter how much I advance in the game she refuses to become available on the map. I can marry her off and such (which leads to my second bug).

Bug 2: When I married her off just to see if it worked, and then reloaded an earlier save, she was still married. It reverts to the usual unmarried state if I restart the game.

I am quite saddened to have lost such a great hero and I hope this can be resolved.

Bug 3: I'm not sure if this is a bug, but I assume watchtowers should increase the line of sight for settlements, but nothing happens.

Bug 4: There's been two shards inside my area of influence that are not interactable, and I can't build temples on them. One of them started working after a reload, but the other one refuses to work.

Bug 5: There is a certain area on the map where all pointing will be distorted. If I try to move to a certain tile, it will move my units to the tile above. Can be quite frustrating.

Bug 6: I've seen it addressed in other threads, but sometimes the pan to new quest objectives don't work and won't show the new area.

Most of this happened in what most would probably call "late-game", I had about 10-15 cities, had conquered 4 civilizations and had about 1500 population. Not sure about the number of turns, I'll check later today. I can upload a save file if necessary.

I really like the underlying ideas of the game and wish you luck in your future endeavors. Hopefully some expansions!

Edit:

Bug 7: The faction creator has some weird string errors when choosing appearance for your faction.

And here's the promised screenshot

Dynasty

As you can see, there's no model representing her and her icon shows a baby, even though she's 20 and I can marry her off.

Hi,

Actually, if you do have any saves that show your children being spiders, or even just not the right human/fallen portrait or whatever, when it is loaded, it would be helpful if you could post that up here.  Some people have mentioned issues with portraits getting swapped on load, but this is the first I've heard of being a different unit altogether and not being able to find the unit on the map, so it'd be great to check out that save file.

Also, if you have a save for Bug 4, where you have uninteractable shards, it'd be helpful to see that.

As for the kids and parents showing up as overlapping medallions in the dynasty screen, like AnjinSan1966 mentioned, supposedly reloading saves where this was happening does not cause this to happen, but we are trying to reproduce it so it can be fixed.

Thanks for the bug report.

I`ve got some other bug with dynasties. When daughter`s daughter married my son (yes it is possible :) ) their kids circle were shown only below my son.

End of Ilindil's quote

I don't think that's a bug, I think the offspring like in a "normal" family tree default to the lowest generation, so dispite being the child of a third generation daughter and a second generation son, the children are considered third generation.

Also there both the children/cousins of the mother, you sick sick man.

I don't have a save showing the spiders/bandits since I've only had it happen once, and on restarting the game I got the result in the screenshot I posted. It was probably some memory allocations that weren't properly handled after removing the model. As to why it was removed, I have no idea. Maybe the current save could give you some insight as to why it happened.

The same save has the uninteractable shard. If there's a way to get the coordinates of a tile I could give you the exact position.

I'll upload the save later today.

I also had some Dynasty errors...

1. One of my daughters got duplicated when I loaded a game.  She was in the same army stack as her 'twin' with same stats, equipment & name, and both were playable.  But when buying equipment, the equipment would only show on one of the twins, and the other was stuck with what she had at the time of the split.

2. Another daughter became playable, then lost her portrait which reverted back to the baby portrait.  The character was the same, only it didn't have the portrait any more.

3.  Maybe not really an error but when I had a descendant side with another faction and another descendant married her, their portraits showed on two different lines of the family tree but only one of these two showed their kids.

4. If I rename one of my units and they contribute to my Dynasty, their old name shows up in the family tree and in the announcements of new babies.  I end up not changing the names of my units because of this confusion but it would be nice to fix this.

Suggestions for Dynasty:

1. Can you please make the stats viewable from the 'Arranged Marriages' screen when speaking to other sovereigns?  It would be nice to see what the potential spouse looks like and their stats but all you get are names and gender.  I end up searching for them in their city to see them, which can be a hassle.

2. This brings up another possible error.  I can get around to seeing all the other factions' units in and outside their cities and sometimes their eligible progeny aren't anywhere to be found.  So I can't see who would be a better mate for my kids since I can't see their stats....

Thanks!  I LOVE this aspect of the game, especially whatever you guys did to combine the characteristics of the parents.  Some of my kids have mohawks because one of their parents was bald.
