Dragon and Shrill production

I created a Dragon Roost by paying 200 gildar.  Once built it does not give me access to Dragons.  I click on the Dragon Roost and it only says that it is a Dragon Roost.  It does not identify to which city it belongs.  I have the exact same problem with the Shrills.  However, it works well with the Spiders and the 3rd Race (sorry, can't remember the name) production.

It takes a really damn long time. It says it completes in 1 day, but it really takes like 10 or so. Be patient (:

This happens most often when you have two "special" resources together on the same city.

Yea, It's in the same city.  Thank you for the answer!

you need to have the city very close to those locations. if those improvements spawn too far away (i think more then 5 tiles) you  need to build a new city next to them.

That makes no sense.  I was allowed to build on them and spent 200 gildar for each race with no warning.  And yes, the Dragon roost and Shrills are at the edge of the influence of my city.  But it should make no difference.  Plus this should be a bug...

I had the same thing and it took me a bit to figure it out.

When you click on the dragon resource, after it is built, it should say what city it is linked to. When you select the create unit tab in that city, "Young Dragons" are an option. If you can build on it, it will link to a city. I just pulled a save game up and I was more than 5 spaces away and it worked fine.

Then, build like any other unit.

Keep in mind the upkeep on those things is very high, I barkrupted myself making a company of the things, each dragon cost 10 gold / turn, a company cost 120 a turn, I had to disband it.

I selected both the Dragon resource and the Shrill resource and bought them (200 gildar each).  Much later, I got a message that both of them had been built.  but when I clicked on the Dragon Roost and Shrill tile, they did not indicate to which city they belonged (they indicated that they were built tho).  They also were both in my sphere of influence (settlement).  I am certain that it was a bug.  I had to restart the game since 400 gildar was a lot at the time.  Plus later it meant that I could not purchase dragons.

All resources that are too far away from cities don´t seem to show up.   I have cities with large sphere of influence and if the resource is too far away the cities don´t benefit from them even if you can build on them.  Yes this is crappy because you have to spawn cities closer to the resources even if they are in your sphere of influence.

In my current game I have an shrill nest, lost library, 2 gold mines, food resource, marble mine and a arcane library that I am not benefiting from.  This is a bit frustrating cause I´ve been waiting for my cities to level up and gain influence to be able to benefit from said resources

If I did the math correctly in one of my games you still exploit these resources. They still count towards the total production of your empire. Unfortunately they are not linked to your city and thus also do not profit from multipliers associated with this city. Five gildar from a very far away mine will thus still continue to be five gildars, even if you have markets, mints and the like in this particular city.

And yes, its problematic when it comes to allied-races buildings. To far away? Then no production of these units. I had the same problem and just founded a new city next to a very very outlying shrill resource. E voila ... the new town could recruit them.

Oddly enough, my Dragon Roost was located in the sphere of influence of city A and got attached to city B, which was further away. City A didnt have any specials (I didnt bother with anything apart from the Dragon Roost. Might get Drath, but my army does NOT include eight-legged freaks. )
