More item questions

I got some good answers from Cow, TeSeer and McShane, and a few expected answers. :) So let's do some more. Pacov! Come on man, I know you can chime in here. Feel free to be caustic, I am more interested in what is said than how it is said.

1) Complete the sequence XXX

400 Gold: Scalemail (600 armor)
400 Gold: Gauntlets of Brutality (+25 damage)
XXX Gold: Ring of the Ancients (400 armor + 30 damage)

2) You have filled out your items. (BoTF, Nimoth, Unbreakable, Vlemish, Plenor) and can choose 1 of these items. Hauberk of Life or Armor of Vengeance.

3) You can imbue your demigod with one of the following effects. Gauntlets of Despair or Wyrmskin Handguards. Which effect would you choose?

4) You are using Sedna or DA. You can pick one of the following items. Nature's Reckoning or DoomSpite Grips?

5) You are in a game, and Restorative Scroll is now 0 gold. Define any situation where this item, even when free, is worth using up 1 of your 3 item slots.

6) 3 Hex Scrolls or Sludge Slinger?

Ring of the Ancients is overpriced because it used to give +10% (or 20%?) XP. It was removed with the first patch (ninja-change).

If I'm Sedna, Armor of Vengence. Everyone else, Haubrek.

Wyrmskin. Snare is useful.

NR. Exploit the bug.

If restoration cured stuns then it'd be useful... otherwise umm... throw it onto the field to mock my enemy! Spell my name! Make cuss words!

I draw arrows with Totem of Revelations sometimes to my citadel with them when I'm bored.

If Sludge Slinger... and expoit its bug too...

Reminds me, if Restore removed minion stuns, but was 2 second cast so it could be interrupted, is that fair for 250?

1. 1250

2. Depends.  Almost always hauberk.  Sometimes I will go for massive armor if I find myself the constant target of minions or I'm always running into towers.  On second thought, if I'm forced to have the other items, I would always pick hauberk.

3.  Gloves.  Snare is way more useful, plus extra dmg is always welcome.

4. I don't see how those relate.  It seems akin to asking, "scaled helm or journeyman's treads?"  They're completely different and are drastically different costs.  If someone dropped them for me from the other team, I would take the gloves.  Otherwise I'd pick NR because it's so much cheaper, and the 6k+ gold is better spent elsewhere.

5. You're playing a minion build and someone uses hex scrolls on you (how they managed to reach you is irrelevant >_>).

6.  .... I'm reminded of "would you rather fuck Stephen Hawking or chop your dick off with a rusty spoon?"  Neither.. ffs.

What is an armor of vengeance?

What are Gauntlets of Despair?

What are Wrymskin Handguards?

What is a Nature's Reckoning?

What are Doomspite Grips?

A restorative scroll would be perfectly useful if you were a horn of battle minion oak against a TB who hits your spirits with rain of ice, duh!  You're trying to tear a tower down and the last thing you want is TB slowing your guys down by 40% for 10 seconds.  He pops in and rains on them, then you hit the horn and restorative scroll and BOOYAKASHA suck on that TB.

What is a hex scroll?

What is a sludge slinger?

Forget about the cost. Both compensate for the inherent lack of AoE in both of those DGs. Which one is better? Mana + 250 damage at lower proc? Or faster attack rate / dmg and slightly higher AoE proc?

So pretend they both cost 1500g?  I'll take both.

1. 1,500.  There's a steep premium for getting an extra equipment slot

2. Hauberk, unless I'm really getting hammered by minions.  Hauberk is great for Sedna with Bishops and HW2.  It effectively gives you and extra 26.5 health per second and buffs the Bishops by 200HP making them tougher to kill

3.  Wyrmskin, hands down.

4.  If cost is no object, Doomspite.  For both DGs, you're picking up the AOE to tag creeps for gold.  For Sedna, probably neither because eventually you'll want the slot for health or armor, and she's a cheaper build

5.  None, if you need the three slots for other items.

6.  Does the Sludge Slinger even work?

I'm more on the side of not expecting any meaningful content updates or balance changes at this point, but happy to chime in:

1. 1,000 - 1,100 - it has to be cheap enough to justify purchasing over a different item.

2.  hauberk - maybe as a minion counter- maybe not even then, though

3.  Wrymskin

4.  Nature's Reckoning

5.  Early game - no idea why you wouldn't fill up your slots or at least get 3 at the start of the game if free.  If it removes spit (I don't really use them much), but I'd open combat against a ub by getting near and then immediately casting the scroll just prior to him casting spit (eg when he's still walking up to you).  Timing would be fairly critical on this to get any value out of it. Could work just fine for speed fire tb, though... fb at max range, start casting restorative scroll while waiting for ub to arrive, spit, back up, fb again and aa.  It could serve a preemptive purpose against an erb that always walks in and bites.  Again, probably not optimal strats, but other than the minion suggestions others had, that's about all I've got

6.  dito on the "does sludge even work."  If so, that.

err.. it removes spit.. but.. not from you lol.  If he spits your monk then you're good to go.  Which I suppose some bots ub's do utilize.

Ah - its an item you can't cast on yourself?  If that's the case, then you could do the strat I listed in a 2v2 or 2v1 situation where a ub is coming up to spit on your teammate.  Again, not exactly awe-inspiring, but one of the few potential uses.  Good thought about removing spit on monks though.  I've seen bots ubs doing that as well from time to time.

Oh it's much worse than that.  It only removed negative effects from your army.  You can't use it to remove the effects from an allied DG.

Ah... soo.... I'd put it in generally the category of useless then.  Minion users only apparently... I'd wager I've bought the item once in >1,000 games.  Thanks for the clarification fellas.
