Same Shortcut to Application with Different Icons

I have two shortcuts to VMware machines on my ObjectDock.  I want different icons for each, but when I change one, it changes the other.  What I did was change the start in folder on one from:

C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation\

to (removed trailing backslash)

C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation

I'm guessing this tricks ObjectDock to thinking each are different application.  This only allows me to create two shortcuts with separate icons though.  Anyone know of a more elegant way of handling this that would support more than two shortcuts to the same with individual icons.

I suppose you could navigate to the application (in program files(x86)...) and create shortcuts to the program but name them differently. E.g. VMware Workstation 1, VMware Workstation 2......

I'm not sure how else I would do this, and I think it may be a unique problem because usually users only use one shortcut to a single application. My advice would be to just play with it, and figure out what works best for you. :sun:

Renaming the shortcuts didn't work for me. I suppose I could create different copies of the actual executable, but then the program my not behave correctly.

Yeah, I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but it can be useful. Besides my VMware example I'm sure there are other applications that would benefit from this too.  Like launching different websites with a web browser, each having their on respective icons.

I was thinking the same thing, however, it couldn't hurt trying to copy the executable to a different location like my documents, and then renaming and linking to that one.

If this isn't already a feature, it's a good suggestion and may be worth mentioning to stardock.
