questions about outpost founding, upgrading units, caravans, and materials

First. I created an outpost on land I had not revived with my sovereign, however the land under it was green when I checked back later(i had forgotten to revive the land before creating the outpost). Why was it revived?(Yellowish to green)

Second. How do you upgrade a current unit into another? Like taking a peasant and upgrading him to an unarmoured swordsman I designed?

Third. When a caravn goes from one city to the next it creates a road. Does the road provide faster movement and does this create a trade route that generates income?

Fourth. How do I generate more materials besides the inital building that generates one? There's the spell that increases materials output, but are there other buildings/ways of create materials?

The revival land thing was changed, you don't need to do it anymore. Essence is (or was) spent to do something like create a fertile land farming plot.

Caravans do create roads, and they do provide trate route income as the caravans move back and forth. I'm not sure about the unit movement speed.

Lumber mills provide materials at a much higher rate. Used to be able to build them on any forest tile, now you need an "old growth woods" resource to build one.

Thanks.

I thought/ would hope/ that the inability to build lumbermills on regular forest was simply a bug. Ah well, guess we will find out eventually.

It's not, though I think that Lumber Mills how they were before helped. I think that Industrious is a vital faction perk that you need now.
