How do I slow the pirates down?

Diplomacy pirates come too often.

I'm looking for directions to hack the game files for Sins / Diplomacy to slow the pirates cycle time down.

I mean how often the pirates start a bidding period / raid.

Help with this would be greatly appreciated.

For future reference, it's called "modding", and we have a sub-forum dedicated to modding Sins.  Check out some of the threads there to get started.

You can always turn pirates off completely if you're dissatisfied with the way they work.

I'm guessing it is in the gameplay.constants file, but do not just edit that file. Sins has a dedicated mod system for a reason! That way you don't have to worry about accidental messing up your game and having to reinstall everything with impulse.
