Where are the good players?

Story of my evening

I was hoping to play a few games before heading to something else, but the game lobby was flooded with "Noobs only" and "45%-55% Good".

Being a 62% win record, I joined the latter and the first thing I typed was: "Can I play?" I was answered by a kick.

Then of course, I played the waiting game for a few minutes, then decided that I should host. Two, three people joined. We waited... 10 minutes and they left. Rehost, maybe? No one joined.

Then, by miracle perhaps, I saw a game named: "Let's Do It No Noobs" and joined as quick as possible. I saw EB, so I played TB, that was the logical choice.

The game goes well... perhaps too well for me. I mean, I was looking more at my allies then myself while fighting... After a while, I was just wondering... Why don't they concede, they lose in every single aspect, war score (2k diff), kills (6 over), levels (3 over), mobs (we had angels, they priest) and even lagness (one of them keep spiking 1300). I was answered: "I just want to know how the HELL ur TB reached 7k HP". I mean... just concede... and watch replay... The game lasted another 10 minutes.

After that game, I wasnt able to find a game.

2 hour and a half well wasted.

So here. I want to ask... Usually, I see a good game's name with good players on. But in Impulse, all I see is : Noobs only.

Where are the damn good old games from GM? From every good players in Pacov List? From a player where I can at least die once? Sad...

GM members are all retiring, we're all getting old. Some of us still do play from time to time. Add McShane87, he's usually on looking to kick some butt.

Oh his name is The-Rock, his smurf account.

I'm doing anything and everything besides playing demigod to avoid having any more repeats of the nights you just described. ;(

They left.

If you can't get on lagwars you have to be extremely lucky to get a good game going with only good players

Yeah, I left too. It got boring after playing it to death, and I need to move on with my life.

tbh i find games rather quickly(5-10 mins per game, sometimes can be longer though), in this other game i played (35-50 players MAX at a time, and less than 20 good players), it took me sometimes 2-3 hours to find a game, so demigod is a huge improvement over that

Same experience as the OP, in addition Pantheon is broken. So I decided to go over to some other games, like the "R.U.S.E." Beta! Nice game btw, even in the Beta with sufficient guys being online for some 1vs1 up to 4vs4 games!

Biggest waste of $50.00 - Damn shame too - I was watching this in the magazines for some time - the players ruined it - the game had potential

Wow, this is really really scary.  I noticed the trend as well, but now that we have more harrd confirmations it seems demigod is losing its top tier players really fast.

With new games on the horizon, I wouldn't be surprised if the trend got worse.  Final Fantasy 13, God of War 3, Dragon Age Expansion, BioShock2, etc.

I guess people felt enough is enough.  Ah well, GPG got their return on their investment at the expense of us naive players.  Sort of makes DoTa look like a bargain considering its lifespan.

I hope I am wrong though.

"the players ruined it"

Sure we did. Especially by creating balance modes and fixing erros in lua.

The reasons why I stopped playing is:

-SD and GPG prefered to give us 2 new demigods instead of fixing cripling stat system, "vicroy screen" exploit or even release patch with fixes made by comunity

-There is no news about upcoming patches and there is no reason to be hoping for them

-Sitting on vent for fev hours just to see guys playin Bad company 2 or being afk

-Maybe once every 2 weeks i was able to get a game where no one would feed and everyone would play at quite decent level

-Sitting in lobbys for hours just to see same peole joining and leaving or noobs joing pros games and claiming they are not noobs at all (heh)

-hedgie cast me out (lol)

Well GPG moved to Sup Com 2 and dint make anything worth time with it. Game would be above average if it would be realesed 5 years ago. Too bad they abonded demigod for that but on the other side they need to make a living too and supporting 1 year old game wont give them much money. But ffs at least release patch with comunity fixes that shouldnt take much work since everthin is prepared and ready for you.

Well if it makes any of you feel better I will probably be around until Star Craft II shows up. Even than I might not like that game :)

This.

A few of my friends had been playing LoL, so I sucked up the "this is terrible and simply retardededly immature" comments and played a few games. It is amazing. Updates all the time, new champions all the time, and its completely free.

That's what I've moved on to. But then again I wasn't really concidered a top-tier player.

I'm going to disagree with some of the above posters and say that Demigod was not a waste. Playing the hundreds of games was amazing and well-worth it. It was just a shame that there was no follow up.

Fine!  I'm quitting too.  But it's only because achievements don't record properly.  Not because everyone else has disappeared.  If this baby ever finally does get patched up, then I'll be back for you DG!

Meh. At the time you had mostly stopped playing and shortly after that happened I got evicted and haven't been able to play much. I /might/ get a place on Saturday I'm excited. It's finals week next week so people are guaduating and places will be opening up...

Going to be a while until I find a game that's quite like Demigod.

When you find a game to replace Demigod Hedgie, please let me know...

I am a hollow shell of a man without Demigod to play... I've been spending my free time watching Grey's Anatomy episodes with my girlfriend.

Will we be teaming up once again when Starcraft 2 comes out?

I doubt I'd ever get interested in Starcraft but I'll probalby pick it up.

The next game I want to play competitively is DoW II once my debit card comes in the mail... my coworker was previously ranked #35 so he's pretty awesome. Might be able to get him to train me. It does look really awesome game though and they changed a lot of things so it's more fun Tier 1 and stuff.

I'd also like to play Sins casually but Ironclad Online has been really sticky and doesn't work.

I better make sure none of my girlfriends sees that comment.

I absolutely am furious with you. Why do you not go through me before you make decisions like this?

I'm still playing when I get the chance. I like DG, I'm gunna try to get a game until it wont let me in to try.

But I have started getting back in to Savage 2.

Its free! Look me up, I'm Teseer, as always.

Savage 2 Site.

Shane don't leave me alone with Ninki (j/k  )

Lol Ninki pretends like he hasn't gone anywhere.  But he makes it feel like you're causing him such an inconvenince just to get him to play one game, then he runs off right away to play LoL/HoN (he calls it having dinner) again.  I may have jumped the gun a bit quick, lol I uninstalled the game from my desktop in the heat of passion after losing a game to a reg and tb combo because of a 1 kill, 11 deaths Demon Assassin on my team.  I still have it on my netbook though so it is possible for me to play, I'm just also busy with several final essays due in the next few weeks.

What the hell Shane, am I not allowed to eat dinner?

I do not pull such dirty things. Don't taint my image like that!

Ye it's sad but good players have gone. I can't get good games anymore either, there were a few decent ones with Cow and Zoahr, but that's it. It's gone harder and harder to find /decent/ opponents and teammates.

If i haven't quit already is cos i don't (sadly) really enjoy any other online MP game. FPSes give me motion sickness and i find LoL and HoN 3 steps back from demigod in terms of gameplay, so i can't really enjoy them.

I've had DoW II for months but i found SP dull and MP didn't look promising either, but i might have to try it in abscence of good demigod games.

Another thing that keeps me from leaving is the good times/people i found im demigod so i still have sort of an emotional attachment :inlove: . For instance i'd like to hear back from Alterschism since he left all of sudden a week ago without a word, and hasn't logged in or posted ever since. We were sorta "premade" so i'm kinda worried what the hell happened with him :| .

Oh well, i just opened my heart to you guys, be gentle and understanding with a sensible guy like me  .
