Forthcoming patch releases?
Would they release any more patches for this game? Just curious.
Thanks in advance.

there was a rumor floating around about a 1.3 being released... I can't say that it actually is or will be.
I doubt this game is getting much more. I hope I'm wrong.
There will be more patches in the future, its just that GPG is kinda busy doing other things as well so it takes some time.
What makes you so sure there will be more patches, Smecto?
Supposedly Stardock is paying GPG for supporting the game for another year (Frogboy said 1 1/2 yrs some months ago).
However, do you really think GPG will dedicate the resources currently working on SUPCOM 2 back to demigod after completion or will the dedicate those resources to SC2 DLC and the next title?
I think the current track record speaks for itself. However i would like to see another patch.

Luckily the updates allowing for mod support have provided the community with a way to patch Demigod for themselves. Not an ideal situation, but its better then nothing.
How does this really count for anything? How many games have really been played using the uberfix mod, a couple dozen?
shrug.
yeah people are too lazy to download mods (if they even know the forum) and/or too stupid to install them.
I think from the last time I asked Froggy about this, it doesn't sound like there will be any more patches (eg no 1.3 even though it was talked about LONG ago (clan wars)). If SD felt like it was important to do so, we could probably get an updated release that inlcuded some mods bundled with the game, but I got the impression that to do so will require some development on their part and a developer won't be assigned to this at this point. What we will see are some trickle down improvements as impulse itself is enhanced. VOIP will eventually be added (but I doubt will be fully realized in DG itself), a few things here and there, but I'd say you are dreaming if you are waiting for a bug fix release, new maps, or additional content. We got our 2 new characters and alot of fun out of DG. And many of us would shell out some more money for maps, etc... but let's face it, most likely the only way we will see some additional movement on this game is if Brad or someone at GPG gets really passionate about the game and really wants to fix the little things that are broken etc... Hell, gal civ 2 still gets updates from time to time. I wonder what would have happened with this game if they could have mitigated a bunch of the demigod pain. I swear it would have been on par with team fortress/counterstrike for the MP.
So basically the game is dead then?

That's one way of looking at it. Another way is that the game is still selling and might very well receive another update down the road - I just don't personally think it will be any sort of substantial update or super cool content. I certainly don't speak for SD or GPG, but my guess is that we won't be seeing anything that will be a huge value add at this point.
I think once additional features for Stardock's Impulse platform are completed and available we'll see further updates to Demigod's Team Handling and the additions of Clans and the like. However, in terms of additional content, Demigod is simply not popullar enough to warrant additional Maps or Demigods.
I think Demigod will be one of those games that resides in the niche, or cult, status. A small community of players will remain, thanks to its P2P system, and continue to play for years. It may one day receive a sequel, however it would need to have a faultless launch - and I really do mean faultless - and include a large amount of content to hope to compete with HoN's established DotA formula.
I think games like Demigod should really settle and make openly available just how many updates will be provided before selling a product, otherwise you're just buying a mystery box.
Sounds like a game of 300 hundred lol,
*throws ball and yells "mystery box!"
I always got "bankrupt" from those mystery balls.
The game is toast, much to my chagrin.
A lot of the modders are using .exe files now, and what kind of retard can't save a file and double click on it?
(they may have to click next a few times, which is where the problem probably comes from)
Simple!
NO more new players = NO more money
Actually that's not true. They are constantly selling demigod, it's just that people buy it, see maybe 2 games hosted total then give up and regret buying it.
If there was really no more money coming in from the game then they would have incentive to say, give it away for free in a big PR stunt and then try to make money off selling new demigods.
They're selling it for 75% off already. That's not a good sign.
Frogboy did post in Uberfix about applying that to the main game... it isn't too complicated, maybe one day's work between applying the changes, building, having that dev test it really quickly, pushing it to the SYS team for deployment... doubt they would need to waste money on QA since it's already public.
Quite happy if I'm proved wrong. My take is that uberfix (as it is only bug fixes) should be applied directly to the game (eg not as a mod). But that said, quite a few of these bugs have been documented for months... and a bugfix patch hasn't been released. So, based on that track record, if it requires a new build from GPG, I don't think we'll see those bugfixes incorporated directly into the game.
So, if we don't get a new patched release of DG, then the question gravitates towards can we get mods incorporated with the build so that uberfix would be available as a mod without anyone having to install it directly. There's actually a pretty big benefit in it for us all if uberfix was included for everyone. As the host is the only person that needs to have the mod enabled for it to work, then all you'd have to do is host a game after enabling uberfix and it would be used by everyone joining your game. But, is including a mod something that SD can easily do? I don't know. I'd think if it was simple, we'd already have this.
You make an excellent point regarding not having to have the mod enabled, just on your machine. I would guess that it would actually be a lot easier to just add that to the .dat files and have it get unpackaged along with the rest of the game.
