File Downloaded is Larger than Expected (Sins - Trinity)

Hi,

I downloaded and installed Impulse for the first time today so that I could install and play Sins - Trinity. I am looking forward to the game since I have never played Sins before and I have heard and read a lot of good things about it. Unfortunately, when trying to download the game, it gives me the following status once the download is finished "File Downloaded is larger than Expected". The download size on the game tab is 2.06 GB, but the file to download is only 1.08 GB. I have tried to re-download it on several occasions but no luck. Restarted Impulse and even rebooted the PC. Still same problem. I have seen other posts on this error but nothing that relates to this game and nothing recent. Any one have a solution or workarouond? Thanks!

Please do the following within Impulse:

-Click the blue menu button in the upper left
-Choose 'Preferences...'
-Click the 'Reset Data' button
-Close impulse and relaunch it. You may notice a long update time, which is normal as it is rebuilding the deleted info.

If this does not resolve the issue, try right clicking on Sins and choosing, "download and archive." Once the archive is created, try clicking the blue button at the top left of Impulse and choosing "Restore archive."

SithHeadHunter: Did you try what milksama suggested?  If that didn't work, send an email to support@stardock.com and we'll try to get you sorted out.

Hey Milksama,

Thank you for your post and sorry it took so long for me to let you know the results. I tried the reset option but that did not work. But, "downloading and archiving" worked. I still received that larger than expected error after downloading it, but when I restored archives, the game installed and it I was able to launch it. This was a great help so thanks again.

I am having the same problem - have tried as Milksama suggested (downloading and archiving" but still same error - perhaps the difference is that it was an initial install rather than an upgrade.

I have reported it to support and guess will just have to wait for an answer - each attempt using 1G of download and I am on a limited plan.

I have exactly the same problem, I've tried doing as suggested in the post above but with no success. Will have to see what comes of it, shame I was looking forward to playing this today!

Download larger than expected errors are generally related to security software interfering with the download. If you have such software, please try adding Impulse.exe as an exclusion within it.

Alternatively, Sins Trinity can be downloaded via Impulse Anywhere.
