Video files not working

from Stardock Forums

I have installed Deskscapes 3 trial. But the video files seems to be not working. When I apply them, the desktop background appears black. I downloaded the Blue Plasma background from wincustomize but it's not working. Moreover the Planktonic background is also not working. Although all the other dynamic backgrounds are working. How can I solve this problem?

Do you also have Fences installed?  Fences and DeskScapes together on Windows XP is a no go, and you'll need to uninstall one.

Hey I've got to tell u sumthng....Today for the first tym deskscapes told me that I do not hv MPEG-2 codec wen I tried to apply Planktonic. But I also checked that I hv Cyberlink MPEG-2 video codec enabled through Windows XP Video Decoder Check-up Utility.....I'm really very very confused...........

Did you check out the link that Shirley gave you in reply #3? I took a look--you might be better off disabling the Powerlink decoder, and going to Microsoft and getting theirs.

yeah but microsoft decoder is not free.......i hv to buy it which my parents won't allow.........hope u understand my problem........so please suggest me sumthng to do now...........plzzzzzzzzzzzz.............

Unfortunately if you're tied to XP, this is your only recourse. Maybe get your parents interested in DeskScapes so you can get yourself some funding? :)
