BoogieBac's huge mistake

BoogieBac-

"This is the first time I've ever done this, but this constant (and unfaltering) argument of the importance of graphics over gameplay just raises my blood pressure too much, so I'm going to just lock this thread."

I don't understand how can you as a developer make such a huge mistake conflating graphics with animation.

Isn't it obvious that King's Bounty doesn't have good graphics, as has been stated in all reviews of that game?

Didn't I mention Resident Evil 4 which also doesn't have good graphics, didn't I mention Plants vs Zombies?

All those games don't have good graphics but have very good animation which saves them and siginifantly increases their longevity.

Wow, a developer that can't differentiate between graphics and animation, that's just appaling, you haven't heard a word I said....

Are you trying to get banned? Or do you not care anymore(assuming you did to begin with)? One developer asked you to 'please go away' and another locked your post because it was redundant and becoming a flame war. If you're so worried about amimations, come back near release and take a look if they're up to your standards. Obviously you can't understand that people's OPINIONS can vary, so please, just go away like Istari asked.

Just pointing out the borderline functional illiteracy of a developer which prevented him to understand anything.

That is one impressive ego.  And one impressive ban about to happen.

Hortz, you seem to be under the impression that you are the master of the gaming industry and all games will fail unless they do exactly as you say.  I'd like to see what your qualifications are because I suspect that they will be a lot less than BoogieBac's

And animations are a type of graphic.

Wow, this promises to be another animated thread!

*deep breaths...deep breaths*

Hortz,

No. I am not confusing the two. We're talking about what makes a GAME FUN (read that again) fun. Fun != animation. Fun != high-quality graphics. Fun != sound effects. What makes a GAME is...wait for it...GAMEPLAY! It even has the word 'game' in it. Amazing!!!

The above production values certainly help mass market appeal, but I've played HORRIBLY ugly indie games that are incredibly fun, just like we've all played beautiful turds.

If you continue to beat this corpse of a horse with your 'games suck without good animation' mantra (and please note that I'm pushing for the highest quality animations for Elemental) then we're jsut going to have to ban you, cause you and your argument have the heavy stink of troll.

Again, I think it'd best if you return in the May-June time period so we can discuss the TANGIBLE visual appeal of what we present (once it's polished to the point we wish to present it).

Hortz, you crack me up sometimes. I'd swear that you not only do not care, but that you are consciously trying to get banned.

Hortz: I'll look forward to seeing if we meet the standards of such a avid champion of quality animation.

And, more to the point, if anyone has an XBox I highly suggest checking out this little gem on the Indie channel...

Amazingly fun little title that basically has no animation but keeps you hooked. A nice example of how gameplay trumps produciton values (though the simple music certainly has a nice calming effect).

Does it ever concern you Hortz that noone ever agrees with you?  It certainly doesn't seem to douse your enthusiasm for your own opinion.

If you love animation so much, why don't you watch a pixar movie? I hear Toy Story is a really fun "game".

I don't understand why animation is being criticised before the graphics engine is released.

I agree with BoogieBac. Gameplay will be key.

And no sooner. I think we'll do just fine without feedback like reply #2.

So, any chance of a PC version coming to Impulse?
