Rank vs Stats

I wonder if there's a reason why the in-game interface tells us about stats, but not rank.

IMO rank is shaping up to be a better indicator of skill, with a few exceptions. As an example, pretty much everyone in the top 500 would be good teammates to have, and most of those in the top 100 or so are quite exceptional. I've noticed that my rank has been increasing, even though my wins have been decreasing, mainly because I've been playing against players ranked higher than me.

Even in pantheon, I tend to get slotted in with players that really do seem to be at about or above my skill level.

If GPG removed the stats info, save for perhaps minutes played, and displayed player rank it might make it easier for us to manually balance the teams....

...unless pacov is in the game that is.

Not true. Some are, not the most of the people. I'm in the top 100 for example and I don't exploit.

Yea I would say quite a lot of us are NOT exploiters.

I don't think that stats actually determine your rank outright. I think GPG is using a method similar to SupCom: Initial rank is determined by stats, but gets refined by matches between players of different rank. If you go up against someone ranked higher than you, and you beat him, you get bumped up and he gets bumped down. Eventually, with enough games, the ranking list relaxes out to a good representation of player skill... Or at least, I think that's how it works.

I'm quite sure you can rely on rank the majority of the time.
