Hi everyone, I know that this has probably been asked before, but my searchfu isnt so good today. I was wondering is it possible to mod the Dread Lords race into a different race with like a different tech tree, different name, and different ships? Or are they hard coded?
It is possible, and fairly easy if you know how to mess with the receconfig. They behave pretty much like the other races, but if you see something that's not normal, it's most likely what makes the Dread Lords.... umm..... dreadful, so don't change it.
Hi Scoutdog, well I did what you said, I went into the raceconfig file and changed the Dread Lords to my own race, but it didnt work, when the mega event happened with the Dread Lords showing up, it was still the Dread Lords and not my own race. So maybe the Dread Lords are hard coded, eh?
you need to edit the str file use notepad II it will be a big help.
The Dread Lords' appearing when the event comes up is in fact hard-coded, but they should actually appear as the race you were trying to make. And as Foxthree said, the actual text of the event is stored in the .str file, not raceconfig. If that doesn't solve your problem, PM me the raceconfig file and I'll look it over.
