Any other way to reduce lag?

I tried lowering some settings...

Great game, it runs very well at the highest settings....that is, until things get bigger (as in, number of ships and all that). Basically happens on maps with 8 players...Is there any way to reduce lag here besides lowering graphic/video settings? It doesn't help very much...When it starts to lag, little minor glitches start happening like some of ships won't fire and you stop seeing explosions, so on and so forth. And the lag starts getting annoying after a while.

Get a better processor is the most effective way.

Darn...so no other way than that huh? What speed do you recommend? Mine is currently at 2.4 GHz.

What's better than a i7 975?

Maybe the most effective way would be to implement multicore support...and don't tell me, that this game has it - it's just one big thread with a little helpers, thus it's only using one core. The other cores don't get any visible load. Also don't tell me that it's impossible to make a game like this use multiple threads. I still see it as false advertising that this game is called multicore.

Even machines with Vista rating 5.9 do not give a proper gaming experience, not because they are too slow, but because the game does not use the multiple cores.

Aside from that, the recent update at least fixed the worst of it. However, later into the game it's almost impossible to use speed x2 thus everything becomes REALLY slow.

Even though the i7 975 won't give enough performance for a single-threaded game like this, I must admit that it's MUCH better running on it than it was on a Phenom...thus my advice is to stay away from Phenoms until AMD found a way to keep up with Intel.

Intel Core 2 series, but if you are looking just to play Sins, it's probably better to wait.

Does use multiple for loading purposes. Other than that, more threading isn't going to happen. Sure it's possible, but the engine would pretty much have to be rebuilt. Even if they did do so, it wouldn't appear for a couple years.

Wow that's a mouthfull. xD

I'll just go with the simple solution of waiting for now (I don't have much money anyway) and stick to 4 player battles then. Thanks.
