Capital Ship flagships

How do I build Capital Ship Flagships, your first ship is a flagship but thats it.  Im not talking about fleet options.  Play against the AI click on the Capital Ships it has and you will see it has multiple capital ships bearing flagship status.....  How do I create one.  The stats on a flagship are a little better than a normal capital ship.  The experiance of my cap ships also has no bearing on who gets flagship.

which every capital ship is at the highest level is automaticly given the flagship tag... it does nothing, except cosmetics.  so... if you have a lv 6 and a lv 7,.... the lv 7 would be the flag ship... but if that lv 6 gets to lv 7, then you dont have a flag ship anymore.

thats the point. its the AI it cheats. If you want to cheat like that mod your game files. Otherwise stop worrying about cheating.

actually the flagship status is set to which ever cap as the highest level

if you have two caps at the same level then you have no flagship

I like creating a fleet of cap ships and I use them as if they are of importance and I suppose I liked the cosmetics of it more than anything, again thanks for the replies

your all wrong, sorry. flagship status is given to any cap ship that is the main ship in a fleet, to say, if you have a fleet of caps only one can be a flagship regardless or rank. the reason the ai have more than one is because they use cap ships as a flag while forming a fleet of smaller ships around it to compose a fleet which would ressemble what you might see in real life i.e. a carrier flag with battleship, cruiser, and destroyer escort.

Then ship who is the fleet leader gets the flagship desingnation. I've seen frigates with the flaship title, in fact when I see has mutiple fleets of ships I try and search out if he has frigates flag ships. If he does I will keep shotting those first wince whent he leader dies it transfer to an otehr one and that will normaly cause the rest fot he fleet to reform on the new leader witch results in his ships staping the fighter to move around. It buys you alot of time and make shim waste alot of dps potential.

The lvl of the cap ship will only affect it,s position in the empire tree listing. So the top left is always the higest lvl caps and the otehr are lower lvl. If 2 cap ships are the sasme lvl they will sort in the orde rin witch they were built.

So I tried this and it didnt work like that.  Basically build a ship put him to his own fleet and it didnt work?  Any other ideas on my thread community?  Maybe in a patch make it available to purchase flagshipstatus at your homeworld only?  It would be something for those who enjoy the minor boost and cosmetic.

You can never change a normal capital ship from "---- Akkan Battlecruiser" to "Flagship Akkan Battlecruiser" without leveling up.  If you have more than one ship at the highest level, then you don't have one.  That's the flagship of your entire force.

Flagships of fleets are different.  To get the correct ship as the flagship, you have to make sure it's the one whose screen your viewing when you click and drag to start a new fleet.  Alternatively, click the ship you want, click create fleet, then send it to another planet.  Then, send the ships you want in the fleet to the ship, and they will automatically join it in a fleet.

Ive tried that I like to build all 5 cap ships near the start and lock down my base of opertation on all sides. So Ive tried having the cap ships in their own fleet and the flagship status doesnt change?  Ive added a few frigates in the mix just to see if the cap ship commanded more ships if it would happen and no luck. Ive also upgraded from lvl 1 to lvl whatever and no luck but like i said before I see flagship status ships flying around at lvl 1 and lvl 2 so why would that matter?

 

Why isnt there an ability to upgrade capitol ships to flagship status? @ Game Devs?

I think you're confusing the flagship designation with the fleet leader.

A ship that has been assigned as the leader of a fleet will have an icon over it and when you click on that icon, the entire fleet is selected. All that's required is for you to select one or more ships and create a fleet with those ships. The sub-selected ship becomes the fleet leader.

The flagship designation, by contrast, is EXCLUSIVE to capital ships and is assigned only when you have one capital ship that is the highest level AND is the only capital ship at that level. Once you have two level 10 capital ships, none of your capitals will have "Flagship" before their class on their infocard until one of those level 10s is lost.

Right thats what I am seeing Flagship not fleet leader.  However, the AI has every other Cap ship a flagship.  Is that a bug or something that will change?

Flagship designation is given to the single highest level capitol ship in your entire fleet.  If there are two of equal level, neither will recieve the flagship designation.

Normally, you assign leadership of a fleet to the flagship, out of habit, and that's the connection a lot of people see.

Probably because they're getting their flagship killed every other time. The AI isn't very smart about retreating ships in bad situations, especially when the two sides have an equal number of ships.

The Flagship designation is automatically reassigned to the next highest capital ship if the original Flagship was destroyed.
