No more sins addons after pax?

Can anybody please tell me this excellent game will have another addon?

I remember the plan of three seperate mini-addons and then an expansion....

Now i read that people are saying there are no more addons planned...

Is this true and if so where to from here? Sins2

"Sins of a Solar Empire: Diplomacy

Gamers can complete their Sins of a Solar Empire experience with the final micro-expansion of the series."

...

"Diplomacy will be released digitally during the first quarter of 2010 for $9.95."

(source: http://pax.stardock.com/)

i think i had even heard of a planned 4th micro-expansion somewhere, but obviously, the diplomacy add-on will be the last one (at least for SOASE "1", that is ;) )

Yep, it either a full expansion after Diplomacy or a true sequel (which I think is most likely, IMO).

That's correct, there will be no more MICRO expansions for Sins (emphasis Blair's/Brad's). However, from the way Brad sounded answering that question at PAX, I get the feeling that the Sins saga isn't over after this :)

After seeing that one semibootleg video on youtube of diplomacy, there had better be some real changes coming...

This is business.

They can get a lot more money with a new (2.0) game :)

If it is reasonably priced and contains more, interesting content, it may very well worth it. But we'll see, I guess.

Designing a new game also takes more time and resources. I expect that they have a full expansion planned (they do NOT want a repeat of the left 4 dead riot with the sins community after all) but who knows if we will ever see it.

By mid next year we will know for sure, they aren't going to announce anything now and steal diplomacy's thunder.

I think Stardock/Ironclad themselves have already taken the thunder out of Diplomacy. Time will tell.

ok thanks guys. I'm just trying to remember what was going to be in the third micro expansion.

"is the first of three micro-expansions priced at $10 each, which will expand upon the Sins experience. But ten bucks here, and there and then over there… pretty soon, it all adds up to real money."

"once with Entrenchment , again with a diplomacy-related offering, and yet again, with plans for a third micro-expansion yet to be divulged."

Well I guess i'd be happy with a major expansion too...

i vaguely remeber them mentioning new weapons and tech, for offensive stuff, as opposed to entrenchment which was focused on d

Hope we get Sins 2....another race and MOONS!!!

I think they wanted to add a campaign as anther micro expansion. maybe they postponed it to sins 2/real expansion or put it into diplomacy.

I'd doubt they would throw a campaign into Diplomacy, so don't get your hopes up for that one.  Most campaigns have fmv and other additional expenses (voicework, et al) that would usually require a pretty hefty investment, making it perfect for a true expansion/sequel that would already have the overhead budgeted for and any outsourced talent readily available.  That said, if they did throw it in, I think they'd be giving me the best $10 investment I've made in a long while. ;)

They've emphasized "micro" expansion.  they probably took the ideas of expansion 3 and 4 and turned it into a normal sized expansion, probably one sold on a disk at retail stores, including a campaign.

Three micro expansions were planned, if those did well i'm sure there would be a full size expansion. Maybe #4 got moved up because the micro expansions weren't working out like planned (just like all the attempts at episodic gaming, half life anyone?)

There's not much we can say at the moment.  Answers will come in time.  Please do not take our silence as a disservice to this franchise.

While Diplomacy will be the last micro-expansion, it is most certainly not the end of the Sins saga.

Answers will come in time, I agree, but the time doesn't seem to be coming any closer.

We've been waiting 6 months, nothing.

We've waited for PAX which was to reveal ALL. It revealed nothing.

I won't b.tch for info anymore though. Do what you want and when you want it.
Somebody page me in hell when that time comes, cause I feel it may be about that long.

Thing that bugs me most is we were told to expect SOME info at PAX. Evidently there WAS something at PAX... but we haven't been given that info.

It won't be the end of the Sins saga...which suggests that they might be planning a Sins-2 or at least some non-micro expansions whatever that would mean.

That was just your unrealistic expectation. They never said they'd reveal everything.

I would be willing to pay the price for a full retail game $49-$69 for an expansion/sequel. I mean, sure the $9.99, was really unheard of and very very cool, but maybe the investment/payback was not worth continuing?

Anyway, i would love to see more, and games cost money anyway, $49 plus would be fine for a campaign and moveable turrets. I mean, i loved HomeWorld, it was waaaaayyyyyy ahead of its time. But the graphics are dated now. Sins looks "prettier" than any space rts out there! And it would be nice to see more, but only the Devs and Stardock know what they have planned, whether they are going to continue the series, or throw in the towel.

I hope not the later, but i have to remember that for me its a game, something very enjoyable to wind down and relax after homework and school. For them, it is a business, a way to make a living, money means a lot more in those circumstances. I dont know how many "Great TV series" i have seen go under because the network decided to fill the slot with something more eye catching, not necessarily more interesting. :(

Anyway, here is hoping that there is expansions and a sequel or two... or three... :)  in the works.
