Team Wanted: Casual US (East) Players

Hi all --

This is my first post here on the forums, so I'll try to keep it succinct.  I've been playing DG for about 3 weeks now and really enjoy it.  Yes, there still are some frustrating technical issues, but the actual design of the game shines for me.  I love the pace, the strategic and tactical decisions, the graphics, etc.

Probably the most frustrating things for me right now is joining an online game where my teammates and I get soundly trounced.  It's not particularly fun.  The match-making function in DG is sorely lacking.  I am aware that Stardock are planning on enhancing the multiplayer interface - in particular, to allow players to see the stats of other players in a game lobby - and I'm sure that will improve things for us casual players.

To the point:  are there some other casual players out there interested in getting together regularly to play for fun and practice?  I have no interest in rankings and all that, I just want a better online experience.  If there were around 6 of us, we could just play against each other without having to deal with a lot of the idiots out there in online DG land.

By casual, I mean that you play DG a few times a week.  You're not obsessed, you're probably not interested in being a "pro" (whatever that means") but you like the game and maybe want to get more out of it.  If you look at my stats, you'll see that I've played around 25 times online.  You could be a total noob, I really don't care.

We could schedule a time (maybe every night, or every other night, or just on weekends) to play some games.  We could set up a password-game so we don't need to deal with the possibility of "pro's" invading the game.  I have Skype on my computer and would be willing to try VOIP, but that's not a necessity.  I bet if we got a good crew together that just wanted to have fun, we could get away with the chat system as it is.

I live in NY, so an all east-coast US crew would be optimal.

If interested, please respond to this thread, PM me, email me, or chat with me via Impulse when you're online.  We could work out some kind of regular meeting time.

Hope to hear from some good folk who are just interested in enjoying the game.

I am sort of intrested in this. I haven't played in a while but i could pick it up again if I had some people to play with. And I also live in NY and I think it'd be pretty cool if we got some VOIP going if you wanted to.

I classify myself as Casual/Non-pro (though I do get accustations that differ).

However, some nights I don't feel competitive at all and I just want to play a friendly game with a lot of 'Chat to All' and joking around, playing silly builds. YETIS! FEAR THEM!

I won't be playing for about a week but feel free to add me: abuggeredhedgie.

I'm over in Illinois and would like to play around with some people. From the looks of it, if we can get 6 people we can even do some 3v3 and scramble teams and such in between games which would be pretty fun. I've got a vent server that can be used that is relatively empty that I have admin too. Also there are a couple DG dedicated free vent servers I've seen posted. Let me know what's up. Message me or something. I have every messenger out there soo.

I am very new to the game as well. I am learning the single player at the moment but am looking to just have fun and learn.

Is there some sort of universal chat you had in mind? I am under the impression there is no chat system is this game.

I also am a casual player who enjoys just joining mroe to have fun and learn/try new things. I play with a friend of mine and we usually team up and have a good time, win or lose. I'm sure we'd both be more than happy to join you guys in any type of casual/fun games you may be hosting. Ourselves, we use a ventrilo server and would be willing to let others in the game on it as well if interested. If so, feel free to add me to the Impulse friends list and hopefully we'll game soon!

I like this idea. Being a new father (baby's a week old), I will NOT have nearly enough time to get good enough for competitive online play. This would be a very good ay of making online play fun AND accessible.

Sign me up! ;)

I'm in PA, and a casual/for-fun player, hit me up. Though I do play more often than you do, usually once or twice a day (or more) but I have no aspirations to becoming a "Pro" player, nor any intrest in being 1337, nor does my ego hinge upon whether or not I do well at this, but yeah, contact me.

Hey all!

Thanks for the responses I received - we've slowly been building our group into something qutie nice and douchebag-free.  The last few games we've played have been close, fun and competitive.

For those of you who have shown up but haven't found our game, PLEASE add me as a friend (via impulse) and/or JOIN our VENT server (I can pm you the info).  It makes coordinating much easier, and then you don't have to show up right at 9pm.

Cheers.

I'm also interested, I'm in PA and thinking to get into the online in this game, but it kills me that winning 3v3 with hard bots consistently is not enough skill to not get shouted out of a game online.
