Ranking and Experiance

Ok so my gripe is that there are pages and pages of users in the Pantheon rankings that have played zero games and have a high rank, relatively. I see, myself included, many, many players ranked 20K-30K some of which have really good % ratio's and some are very good players, but they are ranked lower then someone with no games at all.

And when i say someone, i really mean someones, pages, i mean pages...somewhere in the area of 800 pages of folks that have not played a game (this epoch anyway).

So why the high rank? Experience right?

Their exp is 1000. Others ranked lower have 945 or 785 or 905 (me).

Ok...why. I understand the concept of gaining more exp when beating someone ranked higher than vs not gaining so much against those ranked lower, but i fail to understand the reasons as to why someone who has played no games get 1000 exp.

Should not that formula, whatever it may be, for deciding the ranking be applied after at least 1 game has been played.

I'd be happy for this to be explained to me better, but please understand, i cannot see how someone who has played no games can be more experienced than someone who has played over 100, regardless of losses or opponent level.

There are something like 16,000 ranked players who have never played a game that due to ranking system enjoy higher ranks then many folks that have played 100 games or more....

Am i the only one that thinks this is odd?

Please enlighten me.

:)

Maybe there are too much disconnects? Every 10th game... I suggest there are also an extra XP when u have winning streak

at the moment it seems you lose way more experience than you gain.
the only way to go high up in rankings is to not lose ever.

its really messed up atm.

working as intended though apparently.

dunno how I got so high up ^^

you probably play in nub games and thus your ranking is crappy because the players you do beat are noobs, and well, losing isnt good for your rank either so i recommend not doing that at all.

All well and good, but, it still does not explain or justify why those that have not even won a single game are ranked higher.

The ranking formula should be applied after at least one ranked game has been recorded.

There is no justfied reason there should be ~16K folks ranked higher than Stack3d for instance who have not played one game.

And further more, if you looked at Stack3d's img, how is that there can be those two guys with records of 7W/22L and 4W/24L ranked higher as well? And i have only picked two examples..there are quite a few on that page.

That does not make logical sense. I dont care how good those 7 or 4 wins were, it does not make up for the overwhelming losses, especially compared to a + record such as 100W/64L.

I know stats are are skewed recently...but the rankings as they are now, if they are to mean anything, really need an overhaul, if we are to care about them at all.

SD...please, some explanation?

yes. people i do verse are and play with are noobs . only problem is if i premade in the aus community everyone would stop playing. there are only around 20 of us.

i still lol every single time i look at that image above, someone who has 5W/21L  is better than me? LOL.

And their in lie's one fo the faults of the system. If it is going to rank you by whom you play against and beat/lose, then it should never match you up against lower ranked folks in Panth.

Since Panth is a lottery as to who your team mate will be and who your enemy will be, basing the ranks on experience, when how you gain experience is random and out of your control is a major flaw.

Person A could always get lower rnaked enemy and quickly drop down the ranks even if he wins every game.

Person B could always get higher ranked enemy and win only 50% of the time and climb the ranks.

How is that fair or even logical?

I'm not saying i have all the answers either, but it's flawed as it is now.

I totally agree, Neilo.  It makes no sense to see someone with no games (or even worse, a lot more losses than wins) getting ranked over people with good winning records.  While I understand how the experience system works, I would much rather see rankings based on the W-L record or some equation involving a player's wins, losses, and average favor points per game.  Actually, I do not think that a player's name should appear in the rankings at all until they have played at least 10 games.

There is more then 20 of us, plus many from other regions whose pings are good enough to play with us. And I'm pretty sure I've seen you premade/stack many times before, heard about it from other players to.

Anyways on topic, maybe the game is punishing you for playing too much! look at your play time, haha...

I guess this is something that needs to be fixed before they reset all the ranks etc again. Maybe 1.2?

And? I play in a pre about 50% of the time. Nothing wrong with folks wanting to play together.  If you have a beef, take it elsewhere, please stay on topic.

That would be good actually. This would still aid the better players even they record a loss they can still gain good exp buy the amount of favor earned. I have been in games where the winning team is not always the one dominating the favor points.

I don't know about not showing up until having 10 games recorded, but i agree with the thought process behind it.

I'll happily admit im an average player, but it is frustrating as hell to get a few good wins and still be ranked 26,507 when there are 16,000 players all ranked higher with no game time.

Come on Stardock, you paying attention?

mate ur just a sooky noob. get over it. every time you see 2 good players on the same team u start crying "we have already lost this game X( " LOL.

anyway on topic, it is quite depressing that players like noother have better stats than me. i beat him every game.
