Backup Windowblinds WITHOUT Impulse!

I would like to back up all my Windowblinds customizations, configurations, registry settings, etc.

But, I do NOT want to use Impulse. I prefer doing a direct backup using my own backup sets.

Would someone please refer me to perhaps a list of files, registry keys, etc. that should be included in the backup set?

Thanks

well im sure its not the correct way but i always just copy the Windowblinds folder inside (VISTA USER) Public Documents>Stardock and then do what i have to do with the copied folder....either RAR it up and upload to an online storage...alwayts works for me...or move it to an external drive if you have one

thanks

that seems pretty simple!

have you successfully restored windowblinds this way? any issues with missing registry keys, etc??

All that will do is back up the themes and a few other files.  Backing up the themes one way or another is of course a good idea, but it won't provide for a program re-install.

I don't know of any way to do it.  Somebody else might I suppose.

the archives of the apps are gonna be in either format

if you used impulse to archive, you will need impulse to restore

if you used SDC to archive, you will need sdc to restore

Your backup sets must be a right pain in the jacksie to set up & then having to add more backups to it,how long would that take to find every nook & cranny would'nt it be easier to make one time drive images instead that on reinstall will work with no reactivate crap, which is what will happen the way your doing it,not on the drive right now but if you reformatt it will & that will go for other apps that require activation also. The "Docs & Settings" folder can be scheduled to be backed up daily, weekly etc so can one time images of the whole drive, tho it would be better to start by reformatting & creating one time backups say 4 as your bases

1st:-OS only

2nd:-OS & a few most used apps but still keeping image small

3rd:-Update OS

4th:-Add everything else-this is your main fully operational image for emergency reinstall,i use it regularly..lmao..

5th.6th & so on scheduled one time images, when drive fills up delete as many as you need too as you already have your 4 base images at varying stages, depending on what new apps & hardware you may install, you wont loose anything if you also schedule "docs & settings" folder backup, that's emails also

Using the a ghost image browser you can retrieve anything you want,i have acronis 9.0 also but it does'nt browse i assume later versions do

You may wonder why i create one time images instead of differential or incremental,it's real simple apart from less files, there's less chance of data corruption

To fully backup WindowBlinds you will need to grab the following registry keys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\ObjectDesktop\WindowBlinds

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\WindowBlinds

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\ObjectDesktop\WindowBlinds

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\WindowBlinds

and these on 64 bit:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Stardock\ObjectDesktop\WindowBlinds

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Stardock\WindowBlinds

Also, the following file locations:

C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds (64 bit would be C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds)

Vista:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\WindowBlinds

XP:

C:\documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Stardock\WindowBlinds

That'll be everything and anything WindowBlinds on your system.  This is assuming that you have installed to the default locations.  Any changes you may have made to the install directory of WindowBlinds or the themes locations would alter this.
