WindowBlinds 7 Beta 2 bug reports

WindowBlinds 7 Beta 2 bug reports

Beta 2 of WindowBlinds has been released.  This build focuses on UI enhancements.

The previous UI is still the default from Impulse.  You can access the new (amazing!) UI from your start menu, or from the button in the old UI (screenshot)

Post anything that looks odd.  Make sure to give us your WB system information from the WB app, your OS (including 32 or 64 bit), and if it's hard to explain (or even if it isn't) a screenshot.

choja_uk make sure you have Show pre-release versions checked in the Impulse settings.

Hurrah that worked! Then Win 7 said: Windowblinds has known security issues and closes! Hmmmph.

I highly doubt Windows 7 said WindowBlinds has known security issues.

It may have said WindowBlinds 6 does not support Windows 7 (which is true), but if you got that message then you tried to install WB6.4 rather than WB 7.

I have a feeling that was addressed.

Just updated WB7 and this issue is still an issue. It does not use the "toolbar icons selected below" or "animations selected below." After applying a skin it used the icons for the skin....then when I changed skins the toolbar icons from the last skin were still in use.

Hi Everyone,

I just installed the latest WB7 update and I have a minor problem.  Here is a link to the screen shot so you can see what I'm talking about.  Has anyone else experienced this?  As you can see from the screen shot, the right side of the task bar is flat while the rest is normal.  I've tried rebooting, cold boot, etc. and played with the blur.  With blur enabled (don't normally use it) the taskbar seems to be okay but when I set it for high (almost completely transparent) transparency with blur not checked, the notification area disappears completely.  By that I mean that it seems to disappear completely and go to full transparency.  The icons are fine though. It's a minor problem and I can simply set the entire task bar for full transparency but I do like to see it at the bottom.  Transparency is normally set higher than what it's set for in the screenshot.

Has anyone else noticed this or is my experience unique?  I played around with WB for awhile and briefly, it displayed correctly but when I increased the transparency, the notification area changed to full transparency again.  Here is my system information in case it is needed.  Windows 7 will be here Wednesday so that may solve the issue I'm having.

Update:  After a LOT of fiddling around, I finally got the taskbar to display correctly BUT it is blurred.  Removing the checkmark from "force blur effect" seems to have no effect at all.  The taskbar remains blurred.  If I reboot, the original problem reappears again with the notification area.

Wow, I got it all working. It looked absolutely stunning and I was really looking forward to posting up how happy I was, but I couldn't... Firefox wouldn't start. I kept getting the Sorry Firefox has stopped working... and it simply wouldn't execute.

I uninstalled WB7 and friefox is fine.

Anyone else had this?

Cheers

Just thought I would let yo now know that everything is alright with Office 2007 and WB, Just done a clean install of the released version of Windows 7 everything working like a charm, learning to to create different textures for frames task bar and start menu.

Is there a way to create different effects for explorer backgrounds in WB

I installed the latest update, and suddenly I can't get any windows to fully maximize on my secondary screen!

What skin and what OS are you using?

Using W7 Build 7100.

What happened to the Default Windows Aero skin? I can only see the Classic version. The next one is Stardock's Aero Colors. Is this the way it is or is it a  bug? I have read the threads but don't see any other of the same nature.

Make sure it isn't filtered out by the star rating. I had this happen to me after an update. The rating for Aero went below 3 stars and didn't show up. I have my filter set at 0 stars so it won't happen again.

Would really appreciate an update or some information as to why this isn't working. I just reupped my OD subscription just for the WB updates and would really like to get this working so I can use the new interface.

?

The star rating applies to all skins.  The only skin that will always show will be the skin you have currently got applied to your system.

Oh...and the Aero skins are showing a preview either...just a listing.

WebGizmos: The Aero skins are showing on your XP machine?

If so, do you see all their substyles too?

They were only showing when I reverted back to a version (76.30.099_09.28.2009) of WB's where the toolbaricons and animations were working. The Aero skins were listed but nothing actually showing in the preview. I did however see the textures when I opened them in SkinStudio to see what they were...but I don't recall seeing any substyles in the previews in WB.

I just installed the newest version of WB's to see if anything was fixed...which wasn't...and they no longer showed. Any idea why the toolbaricons and animations still aren't working? The toolbaricons seem to get stuck on the ones in the Subscriber skin "Space" and no matter what I change to they stay the same. Rebooting doesn't change anything either.

After applying the new Fire suite through theme manager succesfully and then opening Windowblinds it shows up in there like this:

Where it says Fear Factory in the upper part of the preview that name will change depending on the last blind you clicked on before this one. If you hit Apply Changes it does nothing. I have yet to try extracting the blind from the suite file and then reinstalling it that way but just thought I'd pass this along.

What happens if you use the rebuild skin list option from the skins menu?

^that does    (duh me X| ). Thanks Neil.

I noticed that skin previews use the incorrect font on the Explorer command bar- looks like MS Sans Serif rather than Segoe UI.  Picky, I know, but looks extremely out of place :)

Another thing: the Updates icon that appears on the start menu Shut Down button never seems to get padded.

Just got this upon closing wbconfig-

Just reverted back to the older version again and the aero skins are listed...and when I click on each one the different versions/substyles are there but none of them show in the preview.

Ok I've erased my previous to edit as suc: I had the same problem concerning the Fire Suite. After applying the theme it installed the IconPackager and Gadgets as well as the WIndowsBlind which was not installed when I nstalled the theme.

The problem is the taskbar remains the same but with the Fire icon. It's not skinned as in the preview. Is that beacuse I am running Win 7?

Unfortunately we cannot hide the skins from an earlier version of WB, but they will not show with WB7.
