People need to learn to read...

Ok...basically, people need to learn to read host/game names before they join...  namely the ones taht say "West Coast".  Just spent 20 min trying to get a game going...and finally decided to join one.  Found one that said West Coast.  I say...hell, I'm in Arizona...I'm fine.  I join, and see the host had a 72 ping to me, but 2 ppl in it with 500+ pings.  Immediately, they jump on me and say I have a huge ping.  I decide to ask them where they are at...they both reply with Washington DC.  Ok...I'm 29...been out of high school for about 10 years, so my geography is shady...but I'm pretty sure DC is on the EAST COAST.  Well, I try to tell these guys THEY are the problem...but before more can be said, the host launches.  (yeah, stupid me for clicking in OK...)  Anyways...just as I figure, the game is unplayable...and I tell these 2 guys they screwed it up for everyone.  They kept sayin it didn't matter what coast they were on...but common sence says...  the farther u are from the host...the worse the connection is.  And these guys didn't seem to catch that...

Anyways...just a reminder to the SMART gamers out there...plz...if you see a room that says a specific place...I.E. West Coast...and ur in florida logging in and see other ppl have a huge ping...  ur probably the problem, don't be quick to blame everyone else.  hint, create your own room, title it...  "Your state only"  and have fun.

Living East Coast and joining West Coast games won't give you a 500 ping connection, something was broken either on your end or on theirs. Were you proxied?

I can see a wall of words but i know not what they say.

For although i can spell i can not read. :pout:

But yes, a 500 ping seems a bit high for a west coast east coast connection though. I'm in hawaii and i get a 150-250 ping in west coast matches and thats about the same distance.

I agree with this topic, its mostly EU who seems 2 not understand, maybe its cause they dont speak english which isnt there fault, it gets me annoyed when they join the room, click ready and tell u to 'go go go' when they have 400ms+ but i also i hate how u stupid yanks think anything over 200 but under 250 is to high...

I live in Arizona too, and i join East Coast games all the time.  My ping to everyone is usually 150 or less.

I join Australian/NZ games too.  My ping to them is usually 250 - 300.

Games in both cases usually run smoothly.

A 500 ping to the East Coast is not normal.  Your connection must be sub-par for some reason, in which case you are absolutely right.  You should restrict your games to the local area.

But, since most people don't have this issue, they (including me) will probably ignore your game name.  Once in the lobby and I have a 500 ping to you, I will probably leave.  Host launching with 500 ping showing is either not paying attention or not smart.

Your best bet is to host your own "Arizona" games and kick people with high ping.  It may take longer to get a game started, but at least you'll have a good game.

It's the euros who are most guilty of kicking people with reasonable pings.  I'll play anyone with 300'ish, but I've been kicked from euro games for 180 ping quite a few times.

For the OP it's a proxy issue. Last time this came up it took about a week to fix, so hopefully it goes faster this time.

I can play West Coast games just fine and I'm in Finland. Pretty much the only place that I can't play with is Australia.

Funny that...I'm in Australia and can play with just about everywhere fine...'cept EU. Shame, as that cuts down a whole big slice of folks to play with.....

I get pings of about 220 to the west coast, and I'm in the EU... Though I will accept that there are a lot of ping nazis over here. There was a recent post from Kryo restating that the game simulates a ping of 350, I would link to it if I could find it....
