CRASH during multiplayer game

CRASH

I am running vista. the game crashes with no error message 1 out of every 3 games I have tried reinstalling 2 times with no change. This is frusturating as hell I dont know why i keep playing I guess I am a sucker for punishment. My rating is a joke.

Any known issues with vista? Anyone else having this problem?

Please help

Well the major problem with vista is  vista ^^

I use vista aswell but i havent had alot of crashes myself. What are the specs on your machine?

Hmm, does it crash to the desktop or does it reboot (BSOD)? Most software problems are caused by drivers, maybe update your graphic drivers or try an older version? But we need more information.

jamnut - respond here, but please send an email to support@stardock.com explaining your issue in detail.  One of the mods (Kryo) made a great post with some more info about bugs and crashes.  Please check it out for details on what to send to support.

Best of luck getting things resolved!

Thanks ive sent an email to stardock with little hope of a reply, as I had a previouse issue with the game purchase where I had the cost of 2 games put through on my credit card. After sending  a dozen emails over the period of a couple weeks having no reply felt and am still feeling ripped off.

Did you check and see if you have the latest graphics card drivers like Jessep suggested?  Is the laptop using intel for graphics or nvidia/ati?  Can you play on regular settings and it runs smoothly or do you have to change settings to low?

I think a 1.5Ghz processor is below the minimum specs (but it might still qualify as its dual core).

Minimum

  • Windows XP SP3 / Vista SP1
  • 2.4 GHz Processor
  • 512 MB Available System Memory
  • 8 GB Available Hard Drive Space
  • 128 MB 3D Video Card (ATI Radeon X1600 / Nvidia GeForce 6800 or better)
  • Sound Card
  • Broadband Internet Connection for Multiplayer
  • Stardock's Impulse Required for Updates/Digital Download

Recommended

  • 3 GHz Processor (Multicore Supported)
  • 1 GB Available System Memory
  • 256 MB 3D Video Card (ATI Radeon 2600 / Nvidia GeForce 7600 or better)

I would make sure all your settings are on low due to your low processor speed and memory. Your 8600 mobile card should be fine. Also, if you can, install Windows 7. Its strictly better. People have reported outright better performace with Demigod on Windows 7.

Did you make sure your email client isn't filtering their emails to a junk mail box?

thanks again  yes I have updated my video drivers first atempt to play after the update crashed on the pantheon  load screen during a connect. The game runs smooth on the highest settings i have had played many times and had a great experience. I will try dialing down the res etc.

So, I'm guessing you must have an nvidia or ati card in there if running on the highest settings.  Maybe give this a shot.  Delete your game.prefs file. You can find it here (modify YourUserName) C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Demigod\game.prefs.  Play the game with the default settings initially (eg leave your graphics options alone) and see if you get a crash again.  If no issues for awhile, start scaling your settings up.  I kept getting the strangest crash after version 1.1 went live because I had 16q anti-aliasing enabled (a setting that worked before for me).  After some testing, I found that using 16 (instead of 16q) ended alot of my crashes... and these were crashes direct to the desktop without error messages.

I've run the game on vista 32 bit and windows 7 32 and 64 without any real issues (at least issues that appear tied to an OS).

Which email did you contact (should go to sales@stardock.com for that)? As well, if you repeatedly email before you get a response it will only push you down to the bottom of the queue each time you email (it sorts by oldest first).

If for some reason the emails are getting filtered somewhere (if it's on our end you should get a notice that it was filtered), you can also come on IRC during business hours and talk to one of the sales people about it.

I had sent emails to both sales and support. This was a couple months ago the emails were very polite requesting a refund for 1 copy or at the very least instructions on how to give copy #2 2 a friend.

When credit card transaction is involved I would expect prompt response.

I have still heard nothing back regarding that issue or the one addressed in this post.

I have a nvida 8600M gs. I did a format on the hd and installed windows 7.  I have had 2 crashes. I will try adjusting the vid card and let you know the results.

If you didn't even get an autoreply from support, then the mail definitely got blocked coming or going. The IRC option is your best bet; if you can get sales the order numbers they should be able to sort it out quickly.

hmm... running out of ideas atm for you, jamnut.  Were it me, I'd start going to even further extremes as I'd suspect possible hardware issues.  I'd stat with the ram (pull out a stick and test... then replace that stick and pull out the other).  On a laptop, that's about as far as I'd go though.  The hotfix is due out very soon, so perhaps that will help you.

Still not fast enough.  Try getting a better comp.  I'll take the hunk of junk you have now as it's already pretty much obsolete.

Im running XP and its a crap shoot as to whether the game will crash.  The worst is when you are deep into a game and multiplayer crashes..... Come on guys, the game has been out for quite a while.  These types of crashes should not be happening....
