[FIXED][Bug?] or intentional? No SB scuttle value!

Unupgraded Star Bases have no salvage value.

If you scuttle an unupgraded Star Base there is no (0) salvage value.  The zero value also shows when you hover over the scuttle button.

But when you buy upgrades, then some salvage value does appear, for each of the upgrades.  I tested on both Vasari & TEC star bases.

No salvage value for the star base itself might have been intentional, but seems kinda harsh considering how expensive the darn things are!

well, an un-upgraded starbase costs about the same as a basic capital ship. But a level 10 cap ship is worth a lot more than you paid for (especially if it's the 1st one you built) when leveled up. The same goes for starbases. They are pretty weak when un-upgraded, so you have to sink a good chunk of your economy into them to get a good return on investment, in terms of protection of a planet, enemy-fleet-killing ability, or trade/production capabilities.

You still some cash from a level 1 cap if you scuttle it, but you get zero cash for scuttling a new starbase.

So you haven't answered the question, whiskey.

I don't know if it's intentional either. I believe at least Vasari should be able to get some money back from starbases themselves. It is because, unlike TEC and Advent, their SBs are mostly offensively deployed and most combat-oriented. Once your starbase is no longer in the frontline, it becomes a useless brick,, unlike all other SBs.

It is much more likely that this is a byproduct of starbases being created via an ability, I can't imagine it being done on purpose

Terraziel guessed correctly that it was an unintentional side effect of the starbase being created by an ability. The deployment cost will be properly included in its refund value in the next patch.
